'03/'04 Corolla Bodykit Opinions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Hello?

I'm considering changing the look of my Toyota Corolla by replacing the stock skirts with a different bodykit. This is the kit I am considering:

(Spoiler, No wing or smoked lights.)

What do you guys/gals think? Like it? Hate it? Comments?

Thanks!

Its okay, but it makes the car look fat... like a fat person wearing baggy pants.

I saw a really good looking body kit sumwhere, let me go search for it.

You need new rims if you want it to look good.

But PLEASE, dont spend to much. It is JUST a Corolla you know.

But I say get nice rims and just drop the car. It would look JUST as good. (You need At least the toyota sport car body thing). Then it would awesome.

Sell that car, take the money from the car + the mone you were gonna put down on a body kit and paint for a 350z. No bodykit needed

Posted by: Hello?

Thanks for the comments (I think )! I was involved in a collision (other driver's fault) and part of my stock kit needs to be replaced. Instead of replacing with the stock again and paying Toyota a premium for the pleasure of returing my car to look like every other Corolla, I am looking at this kit. I'll be out approx. US $550 (far less than the actual price), and in return I am getting this kit complete, painted and installed. The company supplying this kit is OEM supplier to Toyota, so everyone involved (insurance co., bodyshop, me!) is satisfied with the quality (poly urethane, made in Japan). What I'm wondering is the level of rice my car will have once I get this kit (to many people, modifying the look of an import is pretty much considered rice).

I've driven in lowered cars, and don't really feel safe what with all the SUVs running around dangerously and headlights shinning in my eyes at night, so I don't really want to go that route. At least with this kit, the car will look somewhat lowered, even if it's not.

The car is used year-round, so the snow-plow effect is a concern. Comments from those with kits on whatever car is appreciated as well!

Thanks!

rice baby rice! thats fugly.

Posted by: phatroyale

the front lips aight...... but the side skirts and rear bumper
look out of place on that car

especially the side skirts..... pretty ugly

Looks OK to me.

Corolla lacks a aggressive-look and not even that body kit can help it... not that there's anything wrong with how the Corolla looks.

Personally, I wouldn't do this... and if I were to, I'd dtich the wing.

not bad..

Posted by: MikeBuzzsaw

Obviously hes going to ditch the tail.

Well, I still think you shouldn't. It looks too ricey if your not into that effect. Just use the money to get rims.

that bodu kit is vile.

Posted by: Schmohey

If your going to get the kind, mind as well get the wing. Looks weird without it... but again, it's riced. But it would look nicer though.

Posted by: doom on j00

better yet! spend it on performance mods not ugly body kits or rims. Try spending it on something that will make it faster not just make it look like its fast.

Posted by: Schmohey

^ He's absolutely right. You can trick people with your stock body, but fast mechanically.

Posted by: Hello?

Performance spending will come when the weather improves (summer).

The major reason why I am even considering a kit, is because my car is sitting in the bodyshop now due to a collision, and instead of ordering the replacement kit from Toyota, I asked if I could arrange to supply the kit myself.

When I bought the car last year, nobody else had one. Now I see them everywhere. Just want to differentiate a bit and be able to spot my car in a crowded parking lot!

Alternately, I am also considering another version. Not as loud, but not that noticeably different from the stock S skirts either:

(Top post is "A" this one is "B")

Having the "A" front with the "B" back would look nice, but when viewed from the side, the car would look seriously messed, as the height of both is different, and the side skirts wouldn't blend them all together.

Posted by: Schmohey

The front don't look great to me.

Posted by: phatroyale

this kit looks a bit better, in fact, pretty good
for a corolla kit.... had clean lines

Posted by: doom on j00

the second one is better than the first but i still think you should just go stock & save up more money for performance mods.

Posted by: Dutchman

My suggestion is save your money and buy a sports car, rather than throwing away money trying to make an economy car look like a sports car. Then if you can afford the insurance on both, keep the corolla as a daily driver, and put some REAL mods into the sports car

Posted by: Schmohey

I just want to say this but... how does saving $550 going to get you a sports car?

But he'll have a car that have a broken body... that's not cool.

Posted by: killershroom

Just get the cheapest parts avaliable to replace those parts needing replaced. Who cars about it looking riced out, just get it done with.

And don't modify a $16,000 eco-car performance-wise unless its for better gas mileage.

You misunderstood Schmohey,

Save Money meaning, start saving from your paychecks if you want a sports car. Don't throw away money moding an economy car, as it will never be a sports car.

Posted by: Schmohey

I see.

Just to come and think of it, have anyone seen a riced Insight?

@ Dutchman he's not modding it man... read carefully. :rolleyes2:

in his post, Hello clearly said he got into an accident
in his corolla where his front end was damaged
and was considering getting an aftermarket body kit
put on the car for much less as opposed to getting the retail bumpers and skirts back on costing x times more

around $550 for the aftermarket kit

he's doing this to save money, but at same time is making his car look "more unique"....

basically, he f##ked up his car in an accident and he's
getting it fixed now, k?

Posted by: Dutchman

He sure sounds like a modding man to me, Phatroyale, as he said: "Performance spending will come when the weather improves (summer). "

And Retail (read - NEW) stock parts ? Well thats why its X times as much as an aftermarket body kit.

I'd go for used stock parts from a junkyard, and get it fixed as cheaply as possible. Then he can save for the sports car he wants it to be

Honestly, a modded Corolla is an oxymoron

Posted by: MikeBuzzsaw

Stop, he wants a body kit and he just wanted our opinions. I think the second one looks a lot better. And i doubt you can do much for 550.

They look a lot like the 17" ones for Pontiac Vibe.

You guys are lucky you don't need a license plate in the front... where I live... $110 for not having license plate.

cops are too serious with their fines.

also; there are plenty of modded corollas rolling around out
there, just as much as modded civic sedans, integra sedans,
or even the oddball kia, hyundai and daewoo 4-doors..

its just whatever floats your boat..

but there ARE some corollas out there (AE86 generation) that are built into some of the wickedest track cars in japan

so because those people are dumb and waste money trying to make economy cars into "sports" cars, that makes it more acceptable?

dont be a sheep, treat the car the way it was meant to be treated, and dont bastardise it with those kits..corollas are nice cars, until you start straying from their intended purpose.

AMEN, no point modding a grocery getter

Posted by: MikeBuzzsaw

Holy CRAP!! DOOOD you dont get the POINT!! He has 500 bux allowance from his insurance to replace his bumper that he got totaled. Why pay 500 bux for stock when you can get a better looking one?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! HES NOT MODDING IT OUT OF HIS POCKET BUT MORE TO BETTER GET HIS MONEY WORTH

that is a perfectly good reason why he should mod it. ERGH.
