hi, i am new to the forums and to the world of cell phones. please forgive this most likely idiotic question. i have a sony ericsson T226 phone. i want to have cool ringtones and wallpapers and i found websites to get free ones from. my friend told me i needed to go buy an IrDA infared wireless connection so i did. from this point, i can't figure out how to get my computer to decect my phone. i have already installed the software. my friend said i needed to just activate infared on my phone but i can't find the option that will allow me to do it. can someone please help me. thanks

There is a very easy explanation why this is not working for you... The T226 does not have infared.. Just download the ringer from the site to your phone.

Yup, like Bklyn Bruiser pointed out, you can't use the IrDa adapter you bought for your PC because the T226 doesn't have IrDa capability.

You can either download the ringtones right from the site (sometimes you have to pay for this, sometimes you don't, depends on the site.. there should be lots of free ones), or get a Sony Ericsson data cable for your phone. That way, you can hook it up to your computer through a USB port. This set up will let you transfer wallpapers, etc. as well. You can also save the wallpapers from the webpage right to your phone using the phone's WAP browser, but you'll have to read the manual to figure out the best way to do that.

And you'll pay bandwidth charges of course..
