I decided to start another thread on this subject because the other one HERE didn't state the obvious... THAT the long awaited Philips Camcorder app (for the P800) is now available for trial and purchase...

There appears to be alot of discussion in the other forums (My-Symbian and Esato) already about this wonderful release.

I haven't tried this new official version myself yet and didn't even realize that this was all going on as I was posting in the other thread about the Beta Philips app. that I've been using for approximently 6 months now.

I can't wait to try this out now and see if my "Hi Rez" .mp4s will play correctly on this final version of the player... I can only hope!

Anyhow, it is great news to see this finally come about... P800 owners rejoice

vwvwvw,

I also loaded the new philips camcorder app onto my son's P800 and I noticed that while you're videos are excellent and they are properly resized to fit on the P800, and they play smooth in fullscreen or window, unlike the included packetvideo. But the only thing is that with you're trailers or any of my videos besides the one recorded by the camcorder app, there is no sound played with the video. is anyone else having this problem. otherwise, it's a excellent app for the P800

cmc0,

You will get sound (on the Philips Player) if the file is encoded with a .3gpp AMR-NB AudioCodex (7.4 kBit/s mono).

The videos that I have made for the P900 are encoded with a .mp4 AAC AudioCodex (either 24 or 32 kBit/s mono)

I'm glad you feel that my trailer vids play well on the Philips Player but to be honest I am not that happy. IMO there is still a problem with a lack of smoothness (it's as if the frame rate doesn't sync right) and compared to the P900's Packet Player it is disappointing.

The Philips Player does do a nice FULL screen fill when played in that mode but I think there will be a limitation with the encoding resolution (possibly limited to 176x144) in order for playback to be at it's smoothest. This is just my guess so far.

FYI If you try that SE ad on the Philips Player there will be sound!

I tried both SE ads, the "World of Connectivity" preloaded and the one zedd posted and neither one plays the sound in the Philips Player.Hmm.............

Very sorry guy's... I spoke to quick. I also tried to delete that ASAP when I realized what I did wrong but you're far too fast for me.

I quickly made up these 2 versions of the SE Ad encoded in .3gpp AMR-NB... they should play with sound now.

Hi Rez

Low Rez

Any comments on how these look (or play) appreciated.

Excellent, those work well, nice and smooth with sound on the Philips Player. Now, you must tell me how you encoded that with the correct sound and what settings/software you use!

vwvwvw ,can u post a P900 camcorder video in mp4 format and compare it with philips camcorder's mp4 format. Both at their best quality.
This wud help us to know which one has a better bitrate/quality.
