i appear to have ran into a problem using ringtones. i am trying to make alerts in midi format (like mario bros 1up ditty). i can send them to the phone, and the phone will play them, but i get "error saving sound" when trying to save the attachment. has anyone else ran into this when trying to save a midi? is there a minimum length to a midi that i am falling under? please help me out.... thnx

I too used to have this problem. For whatever reason, the VX6000 does not seem to like MIDI's under 1Kb. So anything in the 'byte' region unfortunatley will play just fine, but will not save. I've contacted LG about this, but they simply said this was Verizon's problem, not theirs. Respectively, Verizon said it was a glitch within the phone, and only fixable by LG. As of now, I have not been to correct this. The only way to put these tiny ringers on the phone would be to use a Data Cable and send via BitPim.

But since these tones are only a few seconds long to begin with, you may have luck using MP3's. Try converting the MIDI file to a WAVE, and then reencoding it to an MP3. If you can get it under 30Kb, you'll be able to send them using picture messaging. Just remember to rename the extension to .MID before sending. Give this a try. If this doesn't do it for you, you should consider picking up a data cable from RPI or eBay. Good luck!
