Every so often my screen on my GD88 will post a msg saying "Area not allowed", all i have to do is push ok and everything is fine. This msg only started to happen after i unlocked the phone to use it on the Fido network here in the GTA. Does anyone know what this msg means, and why i am getting it all of a sudden?

Goto messages, broadcasts and disable broadcast.

Okay i will try this, but what is the broadcast used for in Canada, or anywhere else for that matter?

usually displays the area your in, however it looks like your provider doesn't support it..

i might be wrong

dun think this is the prob coz my broadcast always off. so far i can only find out that, the msg appear after i enter a place with no network, then come out to a place with network.

Turning off Broadcasts doesn't work for me either. Does the phone not function until you press 'ok'?

This appears to happen to everyone that flashes to a different firmware. Wish i knew why. I assume it happens when you leave your calling area. Normally your phone would lose signal and that is all. Now, it leaves the message Area not allowed. Maybe it can be disabled in CB2K? I'll have to look into it now It's been doing it to me forever, but i never bothered to try and stop it. I flashed my friends phone, and he gets the same thing. Lemme know if you guys find out how to prevent that message.

Edit: For now, I'm gonna try and switch to Manual Network instead of Auto. We'll see...

I can t get rid of it since i flashed it to A53, i can still recieve calls while the msg is still on the screen. So we know that it doesnt inhibit calls.

First post stated this. Did this confuse you somehow?

Not sure what latest firmware is for X70. Sorry.
