Shootout... Susteen's "Data Pilot" vs Future Dial's "SnapSync/Dialer/Media"

Which do you prefer and why?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller??

OK, so looks like I'll try out both products and post results here. I have the FutureDial software and just ordered DataPilot and USB cable from Susteen. Upon arrival, I'll load DataPilot 1st, and if cable works w/ FutureDial, I'll give that a go as well.

In the meantime, there just has to be users out here that currently use either of these products.... what say you???

Regards, Bill

I bought the Verizon cable, the FutureDial cable, and the one on eBay.

FutureDial cable works well, but is slow (RS-232). The Verizon cable is faster and works with the Verizon software and BitPim on the same computer using the LG drivers from the Verizon CD. Have not tried out the eBay cable yet. Do not know anything about the DataPilot/Susteen cable.

Thanks for comments re. cables, but at this time, this thread is focusing on user comments re. ONLY Data Pilot and/or FutureDial SOFTWARE products.

If there's a clear winner, maybe we can put it head to head w/ LG's or Verizon's software, etc.

When replying re. Data Pilot or FutureDial, include the software Version you are using.

Let's find out which does what, and if one software product does something "extra" or better!

So... Include comments on HOW the software functions rather than something like: "I like DP better than FD!" (Ahhh - we'd want to know why, OK?)

Examples: sync to Outlook Express. Order of names - ie First/Last? vs Last/First? Ease of editting etc. etc.

Also, what doesn't work, work good, or is missing in either software product?

Well,
Susteen has an upgrade to 3.0 that I am waiting for. They promised they would send me a download link "24 hrs after registering" and it's been over 168 hours - still no link. So, hold tight, and I will give you a review on 3.0. I am not bothering with 2.88 since there are incompatible features between versions at this time...

I preferred the Susteen Datapilot, as I do not use Outlook at home. I have a 4400 w/ s/w v10. The Datapilot also imports from my Clie PDA which is useful...

I received the update link by email 2 weeks ago, & did the upgrade.

I only have a standard dial-up connection at home, and this upgrade took all of 4 hours to complete. Pretty funny since when I originally installed the original version, it only took several minutes.

I don't really use the calendar function for storing events on my 4400, but I figured I was entitled to the upgrade. Hope this helps...

I got this SPECIFICALLY for the calendar functions. Although S2K Dave is writing a program that is available free, it does not support recurring appointments, and has some other limitations as well. Search for "Digital PIMP" in the LG forums for details.

In any event, I have cable, so the download time is irrelevant. I should be able to post a review at some time in the not too distant future.

I was hoping to read details re. Datapilot and found little on the web or in this forum.

In the interest of helping others contemplating this software, and now having purchased same, I have written a detailed (ie LONG) review. Hopefully users will find it helpful.

Detailed Review: DataPilot 3.0 by Susteen

Are people just not that interested? PC Sync is a huge issue for me. Every phone I've owned, has to have this feature. I just upgraded my girlfriends cell phone to the 6000, and I'd like to get her a data kit as well. Calendar isn't so important, but phone numbers and lastname/firstname then breaking down to the mobile, home, other is very important.
