Can Crack2d work on COM port other than COM1?

Been reading many posts...
some say that why Crack2D doesn't work is because it does not work on other COM port other than COM1. Some says that because the person posting Crack2D doesn't work forgot to downgrade the firmware to lower than A22. I just want to confirm this point here, assume that firmware is downgraded to A22, can crack2d work on other COM port other than COM1? The reason i asked is because i am currently using a USB data cable on COM7.

Can someone verify this once and for all? thanks!

change the com port in Device Manager

goto Ports (COM & LPT)

click on your USB to Serial Device

goto Port Settings, Advance, change your com port there...

I know i can change my COM port to COM1. I just wanna know if there is a bug in Crack2d that prevent it to work on other COM port (as reported by some posters). I prefer to leave my COM settings alone for other uses. thanks for that advise though.

Agreed on the PC newbies

Yes, Crack2D ONLY works on COM1. Just switch the Com7 to Com1 for Crack2d, then when you are finished, set it back to 7.

Also, you have to be A22 or lower as well.

how can you change the port in the instructions above? It doesnt give you the option to change it from in my case COM5 to COM3.
Can someone please clarify it for me.
I found the registry key but not sure 100 percent sure what i need to change.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\USBPORTS\VID_067B&PID_2303\0000]

"Capabilities"=hex:14,00,00,00
"HardwareID"="VID_067B&PID_2303"
"ClassGUID"="{4d36e978-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}"
"Class"="Ports"
"Driver"="Ports\\0003"
"Mfg"="MobileAction"
"DeviceDesc"="MAT USB to Serial Port (COM5)"
"ConfigFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00
"PORTNAME"="COM5"
"FRIENDLYNAME"="MAT USB to Serial Port (COM5)"
"Settings"=hex:02,10,00,80

You can change it alot easier than messing with the registry.
Open up your control panel/system/hardware/device manager. (Assuming you have XP or Win2K)

Then click on Ports... find the port that has USB cable. Right click on it, select properties/port settings/advanced. You should see the number it is set to in there. Just switch that number to whatever number you want (1) and click apply. It will warn you, just say OK. Then run crack2d. Should be ok then. After your done, switch it back.

Sorry for slow response, hadn't been on forms for a few days.

Unfortunately that option is not available in win98. I have check absolutely everything and i can find it anywhere.
Anyone managed to unlock their phone on win98 or does this mean im forced to upgrade.

It is not necessary to downgrade firmware version. There are unlockers in our country who make it remotely via logs and it is secure without risk to damage phone. Anyway it's your choice, but I would pay few dollars to have it easily unlocked.

Hi,

@nicksmith01uk: just use a serial cable as service cable - Its better to have two cables, one as data cable and one as service cable. No probs with isolating pins etc .. and:
It's not too expensive..

@wojgp: the unlocking with Crack2D unlocks the eprom, thats the point .. not getting the nck- Code.

The new CB2000 has even a unction to unlock the eprom- has anybody tested that?

Greez,
Jo'
