Slider MP3 Ringtones!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rader_69

I just wanted to let everyone know that the slider supports mp3 format but the bitrate must be 24kb and the audio sample rate must be 16khz mono...they sound pretty good with a little EQ editing....... Enjoy!

Posted by: .clipse

whoa whoa... wait... so how exactly do u get mp3 ringers on the slider??????

Posted by: rader_69

you have to get a usb cable from kyocera, although I hear the LG vx-6000 cable works too and use bitpim to upload them!

It wont work on the vm version. Data isnt supported

Posted by: .clipse

damn... i really hope someone sets up a wap mp3/wallpaper ringtone site... when someone *hopefully* and *eventually* hacks the slider's wretched filter

Posted by: stino4life

im on bell and it this trick didnt work, what file size must the mp3 be?

Posted by: shadow4989

any slider hack can work on the VM version, you just need to clear out the ×××× and be clever enough to find a way around their shity rules.

Posted by: Blitz Fist

Okay, first, this is old news. Second, the LG cable DOES NOT work. Third, it will work on the VM Slider. fourth, no one will ever hack the filter. If you want to know more about how to do it, look at the data cable sticky topic at the top of the page.

Posted by: braindead5400

wow, why would anyone be looking this far back into the forum, we all know that the slider works with mp3 and that the filter is unhackable.

If anybody could find out another sprint/vm compatible ip i will make a wap site with free downloads for the slider.

Posted by: braindead5400

and then you will get shut down for copyright infringement. This is why sites like euploader.com no longer allow the upload of .mmf files because they ofter contain songs that are copyrighted

I noticed that the search feature on this forum is all screwed up. When you tell it to search the Kyocera forum, the results that come up only show recent threads. Try typing in "ringtone" "ringtones" "slider" or "mp3" in a search. You only get the latest threads, not the old important ones. When you tell it to show you results that are from two weeks ago or older, it says it cannot find anything.

Hi I am a new member to this forum, came across looking from brew support for the slider

I am in the current workings of setting up a site for this phone and have a few suggestions for MP3 ring tones if I may share them

First off this is confirmed to work on my phone also
The encoding is correct as stated above (currently testing other 22khz kind of worked but demonstrated a lot of artifact on the output)
You just upload the file using gagin like you would a midi

16K mono @ 24Kbit is the best so far
I would like to suggest the use of nero wave editor as it can be used to crop the wave file and normalize / re-encode it (available as part of nero burning rom @ www.nero.com)

Settings to work best on the slider and nero are to normalize the file -11db as it will not clip or distort on the slider ringer speaker

From what I can tell the size of the mp3 is limited to file size of 2mb and 10 ring tones no maximum limit of playback time

The mp3 file does not need to be uploaded with any specific name

Ring tones wont show up on the phone until it is rebooted and you play the file you want from the my ring tones menu

Hope this added some helpful tips to you

My data cable will be here by the middle of this week. Can you actually hear lyrics/voices from the MP3s that you add to the Slider, or can you really only hear the music?

Yes, its an MP3 basicly. Whatever you heard on the mp3, what you hear on your phone, just way lower quailty and such.

The lyrics are fairly clear depending on how complex the music is

I used radical dreamers from the chrono cross soundtrack and it was great also the ending to outlaw star worked well also

Can the .mp3 be sent to the slider thru WAP?

Posted by: braindead5400

if you set up a site, you can get in trouble for copyright infringement. They go after mp3 and mmf ringtone sites that use copyrighted music

Posted by: DigitalFreeze

fair enough. I just don't have the data cable and was curious to see if it would work. Needless to say that it does......same 8K max file size...all you have to do is rename the mp3 to .mid

Posted by: pinomex

IF you use the MP3 for your own personal use.

He's talking about setting up a site so others can access it. I know of several sites that either closed down or stop using mmf (samsung and innos use this format which can be made from an mp3) ringtones because of copyright problems. So explain to me how that is personal

Who's talking about setting up a site so that others can access it? Looks like an assumption on your part.

It may be his own band's stuff.

Not that I can distinguish the difference, but the Slider can also play MP3s that have a bit rate of 32k and 16khz sample rate (mono of course), not just 24k. So the MP3 can have a bit rate of 24k or 32k and it will work. 32k takes up more space obviously and I don't hear any difference between a 24k bit rate MP3 and one that is 32k so I guess this information is useless but I just felt like posting it.
