I've just stumbled through Bengalboy's mp4 thread and have tested a few mp4's on the n6600. None play sound but the picture quality is fantastic.

Seems the n6600 can only play .rm or 3gpp. (and the quality sucks on both.)

But with the pvplayer app it can also play mp4's. Problem is the pvplayer doesn't support AC3 sound or something like that(???) But only AMR (???)

Is there anyway to create mp4's with AMR to work on a 6600?

I have (1) mp4 that is terrible quality but plays sound....another forum member said it was coded with a divx sound codec or something.

Any help would be appreicated.

They are both made with the ARM-NB audio codex in mono (the sound should work) but can your 6600 play the video.

i will try them...

i have one mp4 from a p800 that works with sound.

a stock 6600 plays rm and 3gpp.. the pvplayer app let's it play mp4 but doesn't suport acc.

the 6600 can use the eye and ear format from eti camcorder as well.. if cna pretty much do everything the p800/900 can but doesn ot have touch screen and stereo... (i;m sure there's other things but you get the point)

Thanks for that info... at this point I'm just intersted whether those files will play for you on the 6600.

Since I don't own a 6600 I can only wait till you tell me what happens. If any of them do play correctly, then please also tell me how the quality differs between the files.

pv player crashed on both... looks liek it's about to start then dies.

i've learned that most p900 vids don't work and most p800 vids work but have no sound.

i have samples of files that work with sound and without if you're intrested in analysing?

I just want to be sure... you did try all 4 files on your phone (and not just try them on your computer)

Then if not even one of these 4 files that I gave you worked, I don't know what else to offer you... sorry.

all 4 would not play in the phone

they feel like they're about to start ..but never do... screen just stays black... and the timer shows 0:00/

oh well...guess i'll keep researching

i can make mp4's without sound now though.. i downloaded a demo helix mobile producer and can create a decent picture

90% quality and 128 bit (whatever that means..but no sound)

PvAuthor has settings for the Nokia 7650 which I am sure would work on the new Nokia.

Hi guys,

@Mark....thats exactly what i was gonna say Mark....as i had a 6600 (gave it up....nothin feels gud in front of the P900) and used the 7650 profile in the PVAuthor 3.3.1 and it worked like a charm. I encoded Mummy Part 2 and it looked great on the 6600 (miles away from the P900).

@Shaolinmonk....Give this proggie a go.

thanks for the tips... i got it to work using pvauthor...

used the 7650 profile as you guys said... converted a few movies and they look pretty good. Ice age and Finding NEmo and the New SE ad.
