making midis into ringtones

ok
i just got a 4400b and i have some midis of some songs that i want to make into ringtones
i know i need the cord 17-183 from radio shack and bitpim
but for the midi are there in certain specific forms it needs to be in
can it be any amount of layers and stuff as long as its under 30k and less than about 30 sec?
i have all the stuff to cut it and change it, i just need to know what i should cut and change

No... just put any MIDI file on the phone with BitPim and you're set. Length or size doesn't matter (as long as it fits on the phone... no 5MB MIDIs 
).
