Can't turn off airplane mode on 8380 Mio

It went into airplane mode and I get the message "Airplane Mode could not be turned off, try again" and trying again doesn't help. I have shut down, taken out the battery powered up without the SIM. Put in the SIM and tried again to no avail. Other than resetting the phone, any suggestions?

Also, how do you update the ROM. I went to the chinese mio site and saw a new version but really can't navigate it that well. I found a hacked ROM in .rar format but couldn't figure out how to install either.

I have verified the SIM works correctly in another phone.

I have reset the phone.

I have updated the OEM ROM from 42 to 47 and then to 53.

I have reset the phone.

Still no luck. I am now installing the Embedded Visual Tools IDE to try and write a C program to turn the radio off. I assume there is some function to access that in the Smartphone SDK although I am doubtful that will wrok.

Got it fixed finally - reset it with the original SDMMC card inserted. Have no idea why this would have any effect but it came up in normal mode. Reinserted the other SIM card and started re-installing all my programs :-(

hi.

where did you get the updates? i also tried getting it from the mio chinese site but it refused my login, even though i had successfully registered as a VIP member. why mitac does not have an english section, it's really a mystery and darn stupid!

appreciate if you could let me know where to get the files, and how you installed them.

I had to re-register on the chinese site. I think the VIP logins are different on each site. Had to go through it several times. If you still have problems and e-mail me directly at dan-ls@xnospamx.com - replace xnospamx with mindsolve I can e-mail you the updates.
