IMing on 5500

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a SCP-5500 and I love it. It does so many nifty things well. Having said that, has anyone used the AOL IM service on their phone yet? Everytime a friend sends a message to me, a text message is sent to my mail box. If the converstaion is long, the text message count gets ridiculously high. I was wondering if there was a way to turn off this feature. Seems kinda stupid.

Thanks,
Phi

I can log in just fine, but I've got a 4050. As for AIM, do you not have an option to disable notifications? True SMS will be here soon, but not soon enough.

If my phone does have the option to disable the text message, then I'm just not finding it.

I"ve got the same problem with AIM and I can't find an option to turn off notifications. Notifications work fine with MSN messenger though. One notification for the start of a conversation is fine, but a notification for each message is pretty obnoxious.

Yeah. It gets really annoying. I hope my plan comes with unlimited text messages b/c if not........

This should work, but you loose all text messages. Unless there is an option in aim to disable text messaging. Go to menu, settings, Messaging, and then uncheck browser. So when you get a text message it will just vibrate. So when you get that long list just go to your messaging and select options and erase all(new and unread). There is a way to disable all messaging, but then you loose text messages. This way takes the anoyancy out of aim. Or makes it easier to use. Any other questions just message me.

Yes. It's a bug with the phone. If you've had it powered on for a while the browser will no longer accept cookies, causing authentication problems.

Just turn the phone off and back on. Make sure it's not hooked up to the charger... if it is, this won't help.

Go back to wap.howardforums.com and you'll be fine, at least for another few hours.
