Searching for a ringtone.....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

And yep, I've searched these forums, the internet, etc.... I know it's out there and I'm just looking in the wrong place or for the wrong search term.

I'm looking for a ringtone in a compatible format for my S56.... the "French" style one that goes "ring-ring <pause> ring-ring" etc.... Preferably one that sounds like a standard phone, but I'd take one that has an "electronic ringer" sound.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Cheers,
D.

I liked this ring on my old nokia phone but can't find it for my M55 in midi or wav format. So, if anybody got the link where to get it please post it.

here is the only file I found so far closest to old ringtone

http://wap.leysart.ru/ringtones/1951.mid

its not loud enoygh though and I don't know how to make it louder

I found another standard ringtone in another place.... of an old phone. Alas it's a single ring AKA US telephone....

I'll try to edit the file when I get a chance and turn it into a dual-ring.

Its a lot of those single aka us phone rings around, but they are different from "ring ring" ringtone even if you make it dual. Can you increase volume of the ring I posted ?

Heh.... may be different from the "ring ring" ringtone you're looking for from the older Nokias..... but it may be just what I'm looking for.

I'll see what I can do to increase the volume on yours.... but I'm not holding my breath that I'll be able to make what either of us wants.

Hopefully someone else will see our thread and have what we want!!

I thought we are looking for same ring, looks like not the same now
I appreciate if you can increase volume or tell me what software you use I can try it myself

I'm not sure if we are or not.... you are looking for the Nokia "ring ring" ringtone??? I honestly haven't heard it so I'm not sure if it's what I want or not.

I'm beginning to think that maybe I need to sit down at our digital piano and just record what I want. Heh.... probably still won't be precisely what I want.

I'm looking for ringtone I posted but much louder. Did you listen that midi file ?

Posted by: Stearman

Yes.... I did..... it's not exactly what I want.... but I could live with it I suppose. Funny.... it's actually a couple of piano notes simulating a ring....

As for volume..... well... I did some poking and found several programs that'll let you bump up the volume. Problem is that they all cost money to save the darn edited file. Forget that..... I came across a description of the MIDI spec, and bumping the volume was a simple thing. Just had to go in with a hex editor and bump one value in the file.

I've attached 2 files.... 1951L1.mid has the volume bumped to what is supposedly the optimal max value. 1951L2.mid has it bumped up as high as it would go on my PC without distortion.

Use caution with L2.... I make no guarentees that it won't have distortion on your phone, nor do I make guarentees that it won't damage the phone's speaker somehow. Come to think of it I don't make that guarentee with L1 either..... but I wouldn't expect L1 to do any damage based on what I read.... and I kinda doubt L2 will either.

I tried the files, L1 a little louder then original, but I can't hear anything on my PC when trying to play L2.
Any idea why ?

Well...

L1 is bumped up to the highest value that is in the MIDI spec. there is another way to bump up the sound too..... but I'm not sure it'll exactly work or that I can do it by patching the MIDI file. It's possible that L2, since it's pushed farther than the Spec allows for, just won't play on your machine.

I've got tones like that in electronic ring and bell ring styles. Email me at airking@gosympatico.ca for copies in the MID format.
