Ringtone File Format?

Just got the VM4500 and would like to create some ringtones for it. Already using 3gupload.com and love it. Would recommend to everyone.

Questions:
1) Anyone know the acceptable file formats for voicetones (I don't want to create a midi one)?

2) Any free converstion software? (ex. from wav, mp3, etc.)

Thanks!

Here is a link that I got from someone here on the forum. 3G is a good place to d/l ringers. I just wish everything was more organized. They have 49 pages of videogame ringers and there are so many duplicates that it's not funny. Oh well. Keep in mind that you only have 1 MB of storage on your phone for everything (screen savers, ringers, games, etc.)

Try Xingtone.com . It converts wav and mp3 files to ringers, it's free, and the ringer sounds just like the song. The only downside is that after you use the desktop util to create the ringer, you have to upload it to their site then download to your phone, no cable connections. But on the upside, I emailed them with this concern and they emailed me back in like 15-20 min, I think this is the fastest support I have ever recieved via email.(makes Futuredials support look like snailmail) Over all I would highly recommend.

You have 1408kb downloadable memory space for ringers, games & apps.

Sanyo voicetones are in the .qcp file format but dont sound great certain times.
Depends on the song and the massive compression the file needs to work on your phone,

Question on midi rings for this phone. I make my own midi files. How can I get them to the phone? I tried dropping them on my web server and using the Web area of the phone to go to that URL. The phone played the midi (nicely ) but didn't ask me if I wanted to save the file. It just showed the web menu (like home, go to, etc...).

We don't have the data cable yet. Would that load Midi rings, and what software would we need to do that? Without the cable, how can we get our own midis to this phone so they are recognised as ring tones?

Thanks.

There are several web sites which allow you to upload personal files such as ringers or wallpapers to a web locker which you then visit from your phone and are able to download.

Just a few are:

www.3gupload.com
www.mbuzzy.com
www.3gforfree.com

Also if you have the ringtones ready to go you can use this site to send them to your phone for downloading:
