Video Recording Issue on P900 !

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: cool1437

Hi all, I am using the P900's stock video recording function and try to record a 15min clip, BUT the phone will not save anything that is over 5mins (i tried 1hr or 30mins or 15 mins or even 10mins ...) of video that I recorded (even though it says i can record up to 90mins on my 128MB [white color] MSDUO or 25min on the phone's internal memory. It doesnt say that it cant save, but the BUSY word keeps on flashing and flashing. I guess its trying to save (processing?), but I let it sit and process for over 1hr or even 1.5 hrs to save a 15min clip ....... and it just keeps saying BUSY .....

Is anyone able to record anything more than 20mins and able to save it to the phone's internal memory or the memory stick?

I am sure I have enough hd space (internal or external) to save my 15min clip .... even the counter up top says I have lots of time left ...... but it wont save ....

Anyone encountering this problem ?

I am currently running version

Organiser:
CXC162021 R1A05
CDA:
CDA162004/14 R2A01

Please help, thanks =D

Hi,

I know wot u mean....this does seem to happen. But to be honest i dont think there is any solution for this. And also i dont think anyone wud have an answer for u cos i dont think anyone wud even use the P900 to record one hour of video considering how choppy it is....hehe.

But thats not the point, the fact is that it shudnt do that. I guess ur best bet wud be to show it to a SE service point. Probably the losers out there might give u some help ( which i doubt as their ignorance always seems to amaze me ).

Cheers,
Doc.

Well I did email SONY ERICSSON about it ... and awaiting reply ... but if anyone can record over 5mins of clip using high video and high audio .... pls do let me know

Thanks =D

isn't P900 only support ordinary MS Duo? (purple one) but not MS Duo Pro (white one)?? hv u tried w/ a ordinary MS Duo??

not sure does this help or not...but at least this is what i can think of

Posted by: cool1437

Sorry if i confused u ... but the MSDUO 128MB I have is white ... coz its the first generation ones ...
the new one is dark blue and it says highspeed ...

Trust me, mine is not the brown one (MS DUO PRO)

but hey ... thanks for replying though =D

Any difference in speed between the white, blue and darker (high speed) ones?

l have recorded over half an hour the trick is to send the path towards the mem stick, how? like this open the communicorder app and slect video then tap the ''unfiled'' on the upper left side of the screen ,select the lower ''unfiled'' option on the external drive and depending on what free space you have on your mem stick, you can record. after you select the option you will notice that the time left on the recorder app has increased.

O it worked for you ? .... well for me it didnt work .. and Yes I did change the path to the Memory stick DUO ..... hmm can I ask u what quality video and audio u choose ? and Is your memory stick DUO Dark blue color (high-speed) ?

And if you dont mind can u also give me your firmware version ? .... coz me and my friend thinks its probably the my firmware or I might have a "bad" phone .....

I am running CDA 162004/14 R2B01 (was R2A01 .. but I flashed)
Organiser R1A05 (didnt change)

l am using a mem stick duo 64 mb (magic gate) my firmware is CDA162003/4 R2CO1 ORGANIZER CXC162021 R2BO2 PHONE CXC162022 R3C006. l don't remember the previous version l flashed it via the se sight 2 weeks ago,but even in the previous version l could still do the same thing. l have selected the highest quality on the recorded video.

Posted by: cool1437

hmm ..... i wonder .. could it be my phone or my firmware ? .... what do u think ..... ?

Posted by: mathios

l think it's a phone matter, why don't you try creating a new folder on the mem stick path give it a name you will remember and direct the recordings there, see what happens what have you got to lose?

Posted by: cool1437

Yes I tried ... I already have a folder on the memory stick to save my videos ... the problem is after I filmed a 10min clip ... it just keeps on saying "BUSY" ....

I wonder whats happening, I even flashed the phone and see if thats the problem ... but nope .... and well I am getting the new HIGHSPEED MS DUO 128MB to replace my MAGICGATE MSDUO128MB to try again ..... but if this doesnt work then I dunno what I can do other than bringing the phone back to SE ....

I emailed them , and awaiting a reply .....

one more question, how much free memory have you got in the phone? and what about the ram memory? try closing all programms that run in the backround and freeing the ram memory and try again. the message "busy" that you get might be caused by a ram unavailability. try installing a programm called handy day 2004 it shows you the ram availability and more other things. l can send it to you if you leave your e-mail next time.

can u pls email me the software at [email]apoils@powersurfer.net

thanks , my email is cool143734@hotmail.com
But I tried shutting off the phone and then turning it back on and then record those clips, but same thing happened ..... and well I uses Tracker 2.0 to kill other apps .... but is HandyDay better ?

Posted by: mathios

l beleive handy day 2004 is better, try it. l also found an option that maby you haven't seen in the video/preferences/ there is an option that maby you haven't seen it allows you to choose from an unlimited time recording to just a few minutes have you seen this? maby this is causing your problem. look at the attachment below.

Posted by: cool1437

thanks ... I tried with handyday ... but same thing ... it just keep saying BUSY .... and yeah i have it @ No limit .... thx for that hint though =D

i ran out of ideas lol ....

so should i wait for a firmware update ? ...

Posted by: mathios

you could do that,or you can take it to your nearest sony ericsson service center and have a flash upgrade and see if the problem continues, sorry but l ran out of ideas...

Posted by: cool1437
