Ok 3VW,
I have been at this since the past 3 days and still cannot make as gud an MP4 as u. Although i must say that will all the experimenting i have come farrrrrr and my videos are of muchhhh better quality as compared to before. But somehow there is a very slight compromise in the size.
I certainly hope u are working on that tutorial of urs rite now and if u arent.....get workin on it mannnn....hehe. Food n sleep are not such big a necessity u know....lol
Looking forward to ur tutorial.
Cheers,
Doc.
P.S. These are the settings i am using at present....jus incase someone is interested in knowing.
I am using Mpegable X4Live.
Total Bitrate: 225kbps
Audio Bitrate: 32kbps
In Advanced
Within Preprocessing:
downsampling by factor 1.
target frame rate: 15fps
Audio:
Channels: Mono
Precision:16bit
Sample Rate:22050Hz
Encoding:
KeyFrame: every 100 seconds (60 also wud do)
Remaining all left as default.
Interoperability: No restriction.
Leme know how it goes if anyone tries any of these settings. Oh n using these settings the size of the video ur encoding roughly amounts to around 1MB/minute.

Glad to see you’ve been experimenting futuredoc (ShovelhEd too)... and I appreciate you giving me that comment of how gud my vids are.
I’m really not doing anything special and when I look over your settings I will say you’re on the right track. All I’ve done is methodically worked out what “I view” to be the best settings to get what “I want” to see. After everyone reads my tutorial I can only hope that others will continue to experiment and may even find better settings than mine. (Where were you guys over the last couple of weeks when I was struggling with this and there wasn’t a reference to shoot for?)
Just some background about me and how I approached finding these settings... A-B-ing, the Art (I’ll call it) of going up and back till you determine the strengths and weakness of an audio devise comes from a long love of music and being an Audiophile (for over 30yrs now for me). I use to spend endless days and nights auditioning expensive audio equipment to determine which preamp, amp or speakers not to mention cartridges, tonearms and turntables (speakers were my favorite to audition) would be my next extravagant acquisition.
I’m not someone who has any background in video encoding (in fact this is my first attempt at it) and all I’ve done is apply my old Audiophile discernment to come up with what it did.
Well enough jabber about me... I’m glad to see you and others are continuing to experiment (we all learn that way right?) and don’t be shocked when you do see my settings that they’re really not that much different than yours. One comment I’ll give, is that if you change only one setting in only one area it can make all the world of difference... I’m sure you’ve already experienced this in your experimenting .

Yes, I’m continuing to work on the Tutorial and it will be posted this week... I probably shouldn’t have said anything ahead of time (meaning last week) because now I’m being pushed. I don’t mean by you guys but my wife. I need to do some measuring for a new granite counter we’re installing in our kitchen and if you think you’re waiting... I won’t tell you how long she’s been waiting for me to do this. Lol
BTW sorry (especially to GordonGecko) for havin a little fun with “My MP4 Settings Trailer” I didn’t mean to disappoint anybody.
That Fanta Shokata Movie Making thing is really fun to play with... has anyone else been having fun with it?

I tryed makeing some mp4's but I didn't get any sound.
Ive found that I cant get any sound when playing dvd's
but XP's media player will play anything else fine but no sound when playing dvd's or dvds that have been copyed to the hard drive.
I know this isnt really the place to ask but ive spent all day
pulling my hair out trying to fix it. Ive been through all the
settings and installed media player 9 and still no joy.
so if anyone has an answer I would be very greatfull.

hehe if u guys kept going at it. u'll get it and it'll be worth it. but i wouldnt mind having someone who already knows the way and show me it. hehe. i lost all motivation for this right now because i've just bought a dvd burner and i slaved day and night for almost 3 straight weeks trying to encode and decode, compress and upcompress audio and video to every format possible. i've learn stuff that i never will even learn in a lifetime. i still havnt gotten everything to work correctly. dvd or .mp4 but im just too tired to go further with it. ima take a break right now and come back to it sooner or later. but i have to say u keep trying and the day will come.

You have no reason to apologize to me. I think your work is great and any “jokes” that I have made are based solely on my envy of your ability to encode with such high quality. Like everyone else, I am looking forward with great anticipation to learning how to encode high-quality video for my phone.
