im looking for purchase a mp3 player soon and the decision between the 2 is the only thing stopping me.

Samsung Yepp YP-55I vs iRiVER iFP-180T

I'm basically having the same dilemma, although I'm deciding btwn iriver 180t and mpio fl100. My gf has the samsung and it's a great looking player, I just don't want to get the same thing.

Have you seen the iaudio4? man that thing looks amazing, check out www.iaudio.com

i think i shoud close my eyes and drop some cash on something randomly. or else by the time i decide, a newer player would have come out or a major price drop may affect my decisions again.

you hear about sony coming out with a 1gig MD disc? also the mini-ipod rumors? dont have to thank me for making your mind boogle again.

the Iaudios look amazing. huge display, color changing, nice deisng. where can ifind one of thse locally in toronto?

im probablygoing to end up buying the Iriver. the price is right too. plus i dont need anymore than <200mb memory.

It sure is a tough decision eh. I don't see big differences btwn the major mp3 players out there really.

Never heard anything about the 1 gig md but then I just sold my MZ-N1 'cause I'm tired of all the trouble I had to put through with net md. Just too many restrictions. I can just drag and drop with mp3 players plus they're so much smaller these days.

I don't think the iaudio4 is available anywhere outside of Korea for now. They're suppose to release the unit to the rest of the world some time in January. But I doubt if you're going to find it in Toronto anytime soon.

For me I'm probably just going to end up with the mpio fl100. I like the iriver as well but I'm not too fond of the triangular shape. Just might not feel comfy when I put it in pockets?

If it had to be between the Samsung and iRIVER, I'd go with the Samsung. Maybe I'm just drawn towards the blue LCD on the Samsung rather than the green on the iRIVER, but the Samsung looks a lot better to me.

I have the iFP-180T and LOVE IT. It's also cheaper than the Sammy.

But, if you want - look at the iFP-300 series. It may be more to your liking.

apparently at best buy, i believe.. oh, 300 series has better processor and inline recording (connect a mic to it, as well as use intregrated mic) and MP3 encoding (over wav encoding for voice files) It can also support OGGs, unlike the 100 series.

I think the 3xx series is even uglier. They looks like some kind of insect to me.

I'm probably going to wait for iaudio4. But I don't know how expensive it's going to be, don't want to pay a fortune for an mp3 player.
