Hello everybody!

I have seen postings for people asking about mp4 storage etc. I am offering up my ftp for hofo users to get at. I have a huge amount of space so that will likely never become an issue and I will allow 5 folks to be connected at any one time. There are several folders already set up. If you want other folders, simply PM me, and I will add them. Feel free to upload into the "uploads" directory and I will move them to the proper folder.
Sadly, I will have to have rules about content. I want to help out but don't want grief from software companies. Please don't upload cracked software or full movies. Anything else is fine by me

If it's busy, don't try to reconnect every 5 seconds, the server will ban your IP address for a day if you do. Wait 60 seconds, then try again.

Details for connecting:
Since I am using a non standard port, You will have to use a ftp client such as leapftp etc. Internet Explorer likely will not work. If you are unsure how to enter a port number in an ftp client try googling it before asking. Every ftp client has an option for port.

port: 27015
user: hofo
password: hofo

Hi,

I was trying to upload a lot of midi''s mp3's and other nice stuff. But it seems that i was not able to upload.

My ip was: 212.54.62.223 I'm afraid I hammerd it cause I login with 5 sstreams who upload all at one time.

Thnx for your storage. Please have a look what could be wrong. Got a fast connection upcomming weeks

so want to use this also

Go to your ftp client settings and enable "PASV" mode. That will solv your problem (likely)

I can give more detailed help if you post your ftp client type.

depends on how big they are. It can take a while. There should be a progress indicator.
P.S your client makes many connections at the same time for some reason. Though you are uploading, there are a few other connections doing nothing. Lord knows...

hey Toffeeboy.

Try pinging the address to get the ip.
Your second client likely connected but was not using PASV mode. Search in the client's help to find out how to enable it.
Currently the IP is 64.230.142.143

Haha, my mother is law was moowing again

the computer was using to much energy. Well no we don't live in ethopi. Never mind. This evening I'm at my dad. My xDSL has been installed yesterday specs:

could be two things:

Youre using a leechftp client where you are able to login with more clients this is not allowed

You are logged in at several computers or trying to log in. Wait a half an hour and try again.

Use WSftp, this client is good enough.

Yes, you need to download an FTP client. Google it, there are too many to begin to list. ONce you have it, follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Couldn't you enable 2 or 3 thread at one time. With those small uploads it will be much faster. No only 1 connection per 1 ip is allowed 3 for 1... (uploading) is much better.

I Noticed some ahem *games and apps* ahem being uploaded. Though I know lots of people here would appreciate them and you are trying to help, please avoid uploading that sort of thing.. It will only end in misery.

Ummmm, hi all i'm new here. After reading all the things, i understand that in order to download things from the web, i need to download a ftp client or something right??? (Correct me if i'm wrong please) So to upload can i also do it with the ftp client??? Or i need to download another programme? Btw, does anyone knows how to convert the mp3s to another smaller file??? Coz i juz calculated if i have a 128mb memory card, i can only download about 32 songs into the memory card(assuming all mp3s are 4mb in size), thats very little. So if anyone knows a way please teach me or if you knows of any other thhreads that has taught people how to, please tell me. Another question, i am getting my P900 next week. My computer do not have a memory card reader so how to i record the songs into the memory card???? Thanks to whoever answer my questions

Looking forward to getting on to this ftp site--thanks for providing it! Can't access at the moment because of too many users. I tried to log on many times in quick succession (thought that I might catch a slot as someone came off) and now am not even getting the 416 error message, only a "connection failed". Any thoughts? Also, any chance of upping the number of people allowed on at once (did you say that it was 5?)?

heya.. yeah, your IP was banned by the server for the reconnect attempts. Please set it to 60 secs retry
In the evenings when I am not using it, I will increase the number allowed on at once. 5 in the day.

Hi there.. IE won't work, don't bother. Host not found is likely that your DNS does not have a listing for the domain name.

Paste that on IE and it'll open. .. of course, remove the spaces in between "a s s"

oh yes..but my ftp gets flooded with connection attempts

So I would rather people didn't. IE seems to have a bad habit of retrying if the site is full.. then the offending IP gets banned by the server.

Just been onto it now and was amazed at the content - well done to everyone out there who seems to have the good sense to keep everything above-board!

getting dead excited now as am in the process of justifying a new p900 to replace my 3-month old p800!!!

am I right in thinking it has t9 hand-writing recognition? REALLY need that - the letter-ny-letter stuff died with my Palm M500!!!

Reading through the I know some here want to know about FTP clients.
Well I'm no expert however I've just downloaded SmartFTP. It's dead easy to use and I've already downloaded a file sucessfully and I'm only now starting to look at the help files. I just entered the details as listed in the first post and it was so easy after that.

I've found loads of good stuff here - I'm trying to find out how I can get SmartFTP to queue a big list of things to download, then I'm off to bed. In the morning I hope to find all the things downloaded - I hope it works out that way.

I'm feeling a little guilty as I don't have much (anything) to upload. I'll see if I can find something.

i just uploaded a bunch of simpsons eps into the uploads section under the folder "gebre's controbution"

each episod is about 20 megs though but really smooth and really good sound quality

i'm gonna upload saving private ryan and akira tomarow.

does anyone have any good quality full length movies for p800?

hi guys, i will be making my own p900 site or maybe just an FTP site, but you dont have to pay ill pay for the costs but i enjoy the fact of sharing (its how you learn)

but it may take a while as im doing a masters degree, but let me know if someone wants to design the site and then they can upload all the files etc

I think it will benefit alot of people and also we can have full tutorials etc but still use HOFO. Let me know Shovel Head if you have any good ideas matey

If you can't get in it is likely full. If you are getting other errors (not 421) then you have logged in too many times too quickly (see the rules on page1) and yourIP has been banned. If your retries are are set to 0 and your client tries to reconnect 30 times in a few seconds, your IP will be banned for some hours. If in doubt, check the instructions on page 1

Hey all,

I have been so busy of late I have not even touched the ftp site, let alone kept track of what is going on. Just noticed this morning that a Yahoo group was using it for storage of their WAREZ. This was_not_the_intention of this site. It is here to help hofo members with pics, sample vids etc. It's a shame that this has happened. Ijust don't have the time to look after it and make sure all is legit. I am closing it for the immediate future while I find a way to look after it properly. If a member with good feedback etc, would be interested in helping "moderate" the ftp, I would be happy to give them admin rights to keep it clean. Let me know if you would be willing to help out.
