Hi Guys, an acquaintance of mine said he can get me a GD 87 for $200. He said the phone comes from Europe and I need to unlock it. Now I think this might be stolen ... but then again he might be telling me the truth and it might be legit... what happens if I do get the phone and try to hook it up? Will the Rogers guy be able to tell me if the phone was taken from somewhere?

It's probaly alot cheaper over there, as mobile phones like that sort are more "avalible" so, it could be legit. If not, there is still a good chance you can use it!

I don't see this deal being fraudulent, afterall the GD87 is a pretty old phone, it's been out since November 2002. It's more than a year old. And Rogers CS won't be able to tell you whether the phone is stolen or not because they're only able to look up phones under their network. As for unlocking it, there's nothing illegal about that. Even if they phone was stolen and blocked off in Europe , it will still work in Asia and North America because the network of blocked IMEI serial numbers are not linked world wide.
