I can't read Chinese and the phone's options are all in Chinese...what menu options do I need to tap to get it into English?

Hi there!
I managed to switch mine last night too! So just in case you haven't figured it out yet - you need to select the settings option, either the folder with the cog, or the pliers if you are using the mio menu. Then you need to select the last item on the list which would be "More" in english, and the next list is the one that would have the "Regional Settings" option line. They get moved around in the Chinese menu as well so I'm not sure exactly which line is Regional Settings, but go through them all using the left soft-key for "Done" to go back (there should only be 5 or so on that list) and one will be a short screen with some chinese and a line containing "US English". Just select this, and it will put up the timer and do it's thing removing the chinese menu version.
Good-luck!

I just bought a used Mio 8380 and it doesn't have the Mio Menu ... anyway to get it back?

Those instructions should still work, but like I said, you'll be looking for a picture of a folder with a cog/wrench which is settings (the pliers is only for a different mio menu that can be installed.
1. select the left-hand soft key on the main menu to bring up the programs list
2. select the folder/wrench/cog icon line - if the icon is not there now, go to the last/bottom line and select again - the last line is "More", as in 'show more menu' (there are more programs that screen space), and repeat if you still can't see it
3. on this new menu there are no icons - go to the last/bottom line (chinese) and select
4. select each of the lines in turn, using the left soft-key again to go back if the item does not show a screen where you can see an option (amongst the chinese characters), that says US English (in English!) Try the third line first as that is the English menu "Language" option.

I actually managed to get to English by doing a reset...all good now...this phone is huge though...at least in comparison to what I've gotten used to.

Good on you! Probably much easier.
I haven't even tried a reset, but becuase I was so familiar with the menu structure it didn't matter that I turned it to Chinese as I knew where to go to change it back!
May have to try a reset next though, as I have deleted something I shouldn't have when I was playing the phone explorer on my pc and now I can't change the ringtone.........
Oh well, these are the joys of owning a sophisticated phone!
It is large, but this is definitely the best phone I've had as far as Im concerned.

When I bought the T610 I was immediatly impressed and it has been my favorite phone...ever. I was getting to dislike having to pull out a PDA on campus so I wanted to try a smartphone...I'm not so sure yet that it is [I]much[I/] "smarter" than the T610...we'll see as I go through the next couple of days...very nice feature set though!
