Help LG5450 and USB

I bought the Ebay USB cables which came with CD. Have the LG5450. Set up everything. PalmSynch won't read anything! BitPim reads the filesystem and that's it!
Is there any new updated versions I need of PalmSynch or MitPim. They seem to be the most current available.
Am I supposed to see my phone directory under the phonebook tab? Am I to see my ringers under the ringers tab?
I tried step by step using the outlined methods on this forum but can't get it to work. Either BitPim shows an error log or stays in a Busy state when I try to send info to the phone.
Can anyone with the similar phone help me out? Please?
