Data cable help

Hey guyz! Im new to the forum. Anyway I am having a major problem conecting my phone with a serial data cable. The problem is I dont have a serial port on this laptop, I do have a printer port which I conected an adapter to. When Im trying to use Log Reader and choose comport 3 it seems like its reading but then gives me an error. Same with the Panasonic handset manager. I checked settings and everything seems aok! HELP!!

will not work on parrallel port! I am suprised to hear that you have a printer port but no comm port, but in any case you will need to get usb to serial adapter (and I assume a db25 to db9 adapter). Even still, do you know if you have a data cable or a service mode cable?

Yo thanks alot. I was losing my mind for a sec.... Anyway I got a regular data cable. But from what i read on this forum you can cover pins 4 and 10 to achive service cable status. Am i right!
