how to connect cable to kx414

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just got my new KX414 from USCC today and I can't figure out where to hook up the usb data cable for this phone. I haven't bought the cable but just by looking at the phone I don't know where the cable would go. Is there even a cable for this phone? Please help. Thank you.

oddly enough, it hooks into the headset jack.

the data cable is crap though. it's expensive and you can't do much with it. (read my other thread)

regards,
john

If you want to do anything USEFULL with this phone and datacable, Don't bother with the Kyocera Desktop software (or if you already have it, delete it, and quickly.... Especially before installing either of the next two programs...)

Program 1:

GAGIN... (search google for gagin)
The first I used, works pretty good..

Bitpim...(seach for Bitpim)
The better of the two.. Allows a lot more access to the phone then Gagin. Gagin only lets you browse the USER folder while Bitpim allows full access.. If you are worried about messing up the phone or anything, use gagin.. (you can still put Poly Ringers and Wallpaper/pics on the phone) Search for the post on KX414 or Phantom Wallpapers ( I started ) for the correct Picture format.. hint, it's not BMP or GIF It's PNG, I have all the resolutions for different things (like Wallpaper, screensaver, or contact pictures) on there...

Hope this helps..

I am using both gagin and bitpim and neither can find my phone on any port... any suggestions?

have you installed and gotten Kyocera Desktop software to work with your phone? I had to install it before Gagin would recognize my phone, something to do with the USB drivers or something, at least try the usb drivers from the kyocera site.. maybe that'll work

Yea I have the desktop software installed and it can communicate with my phone. I do get the WinXP warnigs that the drivers are not certified, but they still work, but neither Gagin or Bitpim can talk to my phone.

Not sure man, havn't used Gagin or Bitpim in a while, also I see that you have a kx413, I use the 414 but it seems it would work just the same, I have the USB cable that plugs into the headset jack, I am pretty sure you have the same right? Just try to mess around with the port setting in each program, maybe you'll get it to work.. hope so man, If I can try to help, email me @ kenlongjr@adelphia.net
