???i730 Wallpaper problems???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

first of all.... please do not tell me to go and search for the answer, b/c i have, and i have found nothing to help me out.

now, i cannot seem to get any wallpapers to load onto my phone. i can load ringtones no problem. i make the images .gif files and make them 125 x 125, i've even tried 130 x 130, neither work. WebJAL says that the files are downloaded correctly onto my phone, yet they do not show up when i check my phone out. i know the images need to be 256 colors, but i cannot figure out if the images i am using are.

some help would be greatly appreciated

what program are you using

Posted by: colecornwell

WebJAL, newest version i went through all the steps that have been posted on here to install it and get it to work with XP and a USB data cable

any ideas?

Posted by: colecornwell

i have adobe 6 to edit the images, if thats what you meant

is there a program that is easier to use?

File names must be in lowercase, not LowerCase or
even Lowercase.

How many wallpapers have you downloaded and havent shown up? They might be in there taking up space but not showing up for you to select.

Check your memory on the phone, and answer my above question..Ill try to help you out a little bit

Hi Gooch, we seem to be walking around the same questions.

Can I jump in too without stepping on your toes?

------

Since it's a tiny .gif - how about posting one of the gif's here too for us to have a look at? We'd be able to instantly tell if it's 8bit or not...

Gooch,

i'm sure exactly how many time i tried it, but it was only one or two wallpapers, i kept trying the same images with the same file names. at the most only 2 wallpapers.

since i wrote that first post, i tried different images and they have worked, i used to have an i95, and the wallpapers that worked on my old phone seem to work just fine(i change the size to 130x130) but any other picture i try and save as a .gif and resize does not want to work.

thanks for you help

Have you tried using ***** for uploading wallpapers to your phone?

Posted by: SyXx

Hi,

I am having the same problem with my i730. The picture is taking up memory, but is not showing up. Now I don't know how to get my memory back. If I upload a pic that I know works and rename it to the one that doesn't work, do you think it will overwrite it? Any help is appreciated

Posted by: nickjohnjr

The maximum size for a wallpaper to show up on your phone is 16000 bytes. This sux cause most times in order to get it sized to the screen, it exceeds this limit.

Posted by: SEDUCR

yes it overwrites it! name it exactly the same though.

Posted by: boribadboy

it doesn't overwrite it all the time though...cuz i did that for the ones i put on my phone that never showed up and the phone never reclaimed the memory back...DAMN CHEAP MOTO PHONES!!!

Posted by: SyXx

It worked for me thank God, I got my memory back!!! Thanks again for all your help.

Unfortunately, the problem of wallpapers not loading into the phone is the software!

Check to see the software your using R0A.00.06 blocks out webjal uploading wallpapers.

Nextel is not stupid, they will catch on sooner or later.

When i first got my phone the software version was R0A.00.04
I uploaded everything fine, all my wallpapers, and all my ringtones and java apps. I later upgraded to software R0A.00.06 and presto. Ringers load and java apps load but wallpapers do not.

I then tried it on another with the .04 software and wallpapers load. I then tried it on another with the .06 software and wallah
I have come to the conclusion! IT'S THE SOFTWARE.

Posted by: SyXx

No, this is not true. I have no problems and I have .06 software version. It was just that the picture was bigger than 16000bytes. But as for the software, everything is good.
