will the software allow you to dnload animatted gifs?

In Skiboard's defense, some advertising for the 5K did say it could download animations. I have heard second hand rumors that new software is being developed which will answer a lot of complaints (e.g. contacts and calender synch, more games, download animations).
Also, I have a theory on the 5K 'lock up' problem. I killed my first 5K while downloading pictures as well. I also realized at the time I could fit more files if I converted the files to small PNG files before sending them to the phone. I wouldn't want anyone to experiment with their phone, but perhaps the software or the phone has difficulty converting from certain file formats to its native PNG format. Just a thought.
While I'm rambling, does anyone have the 'complete' rules to Crab Catcher? I know its a dumb game, but I'm just curious about what the actual story is behind the different types of apples.
One final note - I got my free extended battery today from Sprint -whoops, I mean that Sprint has RUN OUT of free extended batteries and they sent me a free 12VDC car charger instead with a note that says once they get more batteries they will send them out.

i found that the .jpg files were smaller than the .png. Is it better to use .png files than .jpg even thought the .jpg are smaller?

Although the JPG files are smaller on your drive, the native format on the phone is PNG. I played around with image size, color depth, JPG compression and found that if I coudl keep the PNG file size small on my hard drive, I could fit more images on the phone. Sure, the JPG file size was smaller on my hard drive, but when it was sent to the phone, the JPG compression was lost and the resultant PNG was probably larger (no way to tell - the phone does not indicate the size of the image in its memory). I also found that I could save PNGs with an optimized pallette and get good looking, small PNG files. Just my opinion.

Hmm, do you know the img size by any chance?

The images that ended up looking best were 120x120 pixels. When you use the software to transfer them, they fill the entire 'box' for a incoming call image and there is little loss. I found that 'zooming out' using the 5K software to get an image to fit created some bad images on the phone. I also like to edit the images and use 'white' backgorunds (the way Sanyo shows them in their advertising). The resulting images looks 'brighter' on the phone. I also found that the images that looked best are the 'cartoon' images I saved to the phone for people I don't have pictures of (e.g. some random cartoon girl, cartoon bar buddy). So, I guess the moral of the story is that starting with the right picture helps.
