CDM8900 - Automate speed dial 1 for voice mail

Recently got the 8900. Used to have a Nokia 8260 and it had the capability to automatically have an input string entered after you dial your voice mail using speed dial 1 which is hard coded for voice mail. Is there a way to do this on the 8900? I know I can use another speed dial slot and do this, but I'd rather not waste one.

Also, you can put a "hard" pause" and/or a "timed" pause in an input string on the 8900. But does anyone know of a way that you can put in a pause that would pause until it goes into voice mail. Then it inputs the rest of the input string automatically at that point without having to hit send? Just trying to save key strokes when driving so I'm safer! Thanks.

I would also like to know if anyone figured out how to change speed dial #1.

Put in two or three "timed" pauses (which are about two seconds each). That will give it time for the call to be answered by the voice mail system, and then it will automatically enter the rest after the pause(s).

I have a voice dial programmed for my voicemail. I put in the number as My number- 3 timed pauses- #- 1 timed pause- password. May vary by carrier, but it works for me.

If memory serves me right, #1 is the default key for voicemail....Then again, I could be wrong....:-)

Thank you for the responses, but I have already set up speed dial #9 to dial my voice mail, pause and enter my access code. Speed dial 9 works great, but I would like to use the default Speed dial #1 instead. I cannot seem to edit speed dial #1. Right now speed dial #1 dials the defalt *86 to dial voicemail. I would like to change speed dial #1 for two reasons:

1) to add the pause and access code so that I do not have to enter it while driving

2) I prefer to dial my own cell phone number rather than *86 to access voice mail. *86 uses peak minutes on Verison. Dialing my own cell phone number uses mobile to mobile minutes.
