HELP: GU87 Serial Cable

I have a Panasonic GU87 and a serial cable. I am running windows XP and the Panasonic Edit Tool version 3.00 didn't work for me. I changed the COM and still didn't get recognized. When they say IDLE mode do they mean the wallpaper? Well I can't get it to work so what program or whatever software should I get? Thanks

Phone in idle mode means:
Not in Menu screen.
Just have on main screen, the one you see before pressing any buttons....
You could try Handset Manager
