hi, i'm new in using this mitac. When buying it no problem for using sms, can use alphanumeric, but now, I don;t know, as it's only can type NUMERIC only. Please help me

when composing your message, press the lower leftmost key (marked with "*-T9"), look at the top right of your acreen. you will see "T9" or "123" or "abc" or "ABC" as you press that key a few times. this actually lets you select the entry mode.

when you see "abc" then you're in text mode. "123" means you're in numeric mode, and so on.

the mio 8380 is not available here - got mine from a fella who bought it in from hongkong. so now i am also looking for a spare battery - no idea how much it costs, if i can get it at all.

if you don't have the indication on the upper right of your screen for the text entry mode, then there must something else wrong. have you tried a hard reset? i remember reading a post somewhere here on how to do that (hard reset). it seems to be able to solve problems.

I've ask the reseller here, and they said it need to reinstall theO/S, have you heard that?

btw, the battery here cost Rp 350,000 (around US$40).

reinstall the os to do a hard reset? never heard of such thing. anyone should be able to do a hard reset anytime. unless they're talking about your sms problem, then they might be right.

btw, i found a place selling the mio8380 at funan centre in singapore. the store's name is AAA (4th level). they're selling it for s$689 with 3-year contract and s$1089 with no contract (expensive!). they are also selling the battery for s$59.00 but i bargained for s$50.00 by cash payment. now i have a spare batt!

I've done the hard reset and ok then after all. But now sometimes hang, do you have the same problem? In here, it around Rp 4.000.000 or S$800 with 1 year local warranty.

any url for downloading games or other apps for this smartphone?

yes i do get the hanging problem once in a while, but that's expected of microsoft software products, ha!ha! i am not concerned as long as switching off and on solves the problem, and it does not happen so frequently. the phone performs excellently otherwise. hopefully the ROM upgrades can settle that.

yes i have been loading apps and games which i got from www.monolithix.org and www.coolsmartphone.com. lots of enjoyment! just be sure you don't load too much because the os needs enough working memory, otherwise the phone becomes sluggish and can appear to hang. i had the same problem with my nokia 7650 before. best to load your apps and games into your sd/mmc card instead. mine came with 64mb but i need to get a higher capacity one.

i think phone prices are usually more expensive in singapore. your price there is quite good with warranty.
