How to empty email inbox of T68i

Anyone familiar with emptying the emailheaders of the Inbox of the T68i? I just succeeded in getting in contact with the mailserver, but after pressing the C for deletion, the phone only mentioned it would mark the message for the dustbin, but nothing else happened.
Who knows what to do, other than throwing it in a deep pond.
Help very much appreciated!
