Having firmware problems w/ sl56 HELP!!

I am trying to upload the firmware off of my computer using a data cable..i got the latest version from the siemens website...

.i have it connected to the correct COM port...i do everything the program tells me to..

.i turn the phone off and on...and so i hit go..

.it tells me to turn off the phone on off and on...

it tells me that it cant find my phone on any com port so then i do it manually..

after finding my phone it tells me to hit the power button ...then it turns my phone off...

then i get this message

Update not possible wrong SW-Version

I am using the sl55 update..since they dont have anything for the sl56 on the website

anyone have any ideas???

Whoops, there's your problem, you're trying to force SL55 firmware on the SL56. The SL55 is a triband phone, where as the SL56 is dual U.S. band phone, 2 different animals. Obviously the SL55 firmware is not identical to the SL56.

Check out the sellers in the market, like Bongo wireless, or GSM phone source, they may be able to upgrade the f/w.

Why do you want to upgrade the f/w of your SL56? Anything terribly wrong??? Maybe some of the Canadians sellers may help. I read a post of someone getting f/w 7, but it was done in Canada.

There isnt anything wrong...i just thought that upgrading the software from the website would be better....cause latest is always the greatest right?

Besides trying to use an upgrade for a diff phone, forget the data cable for the SL56, doesn't work. You need to pick up a USB IRDA cable and use XP for downloads.
