Serialized USB Cable vs True USB Cable

I'm planing on getting the RPIwireless charging USB cable . I know others have had good success using the futuredial serialized usb cables. Is there any disadvantages to using a true USB cable? It should be faster for transferring tones/pics. Has anyone tried both? Any differences?
