Originally posted by clear617 I see what you're saying. I suppose it all depends on what "sending..." and "connecting..." really mean. I was under the impression that "connecting..." meant the phone was just establishing a connection with the cell towers, and sending meant it was sending data to the WAP gateway. Of course, there is one way to check this for sure: One of the users with an old Slider (that can use the free WAP trick) should change their WAP gateway to something other than virgin's. They are able to bypass the default homepage and go straight to the URL of their choice. Thus, if they can get their phones to work with another WAP gateway, we know there's potential. |

So here is my theroy on how it might work: So what if I setup a WAP on my computer and setup a redirect that when the virgin mobile extras page was requested it would instead connnect me to a site of my choosing (ie googles etc.)? Anyone out there think this might work? I have been lurking on this forum for a few days and from what I have seen this is probley the only way without hacking the phone and getting a datacable. |

Originally posted by vermontcellboy I beg to differ. You can connect via another gateway. Just it doesn't work because it's requesting a PAGE that is not accessible from non-Sprint gateways. If you could change your homepage, you could use an alt. gateway But it is correct that VXtras are firewalled. -AG |
