8910 to 8910i?

Just wondering if I would be able to 'colourise' an 8910 by putting on a new LCD?
I guess it wouldn't send the correct signals to the screen, but if I flashed it with 8910i firmware and replaced the LCD would it work?

i dont think it matters what the software is. i think the internal circuitry is different
