i'm having trouble making my own ringtones for my vx6000. can anyone help? I follow the instructions as according to the ringtone tutorial (choose mp3, take a ~30sec. sample of it, control T, process, resample, new sample rate 22,050, save as, etc.) and I then put the songs onto my phone. then on my phone I see the song, but when i go to listen to it, nothing plays! on the other hand, i'm able to take other people's songs and put them and hear them on my phone, which leads me to think that i am doing something wrong on sound forge.

anybody have any tips????

thanks....for checkin'

thanks!!!

below is the file AFTER i renamed it to .mid (original was .sfk). this was the exact file i would put into my phone, see it there, but there is no sound.

thanks again!!!

i'll look at it wheni get home from work. Why did you rename it to .mid ?

Posted by: akordz

thanks for the help. i renamed it .mid because the instructions for the make your own ringtone sticky (in this same forum) said that you have to rename it to .mid, before you can add it to your phone.

I saw that also and didn't really understand it. I think that is only if you need to mail it to your phone. I left all my files with the .mp3 extension and uploaded them to the phone.

i don't have my phone cable with me, but was the mp3 extension recognized by bitpim when you went to upload it via the cable? i'll try it when i get home tonight

yes, it was recognized when i went to add ringtone

it worked! you were right, if i just leave it in mp3 format, it works perfect. one question though, all my mp3s have vocals, is there any feature in soundforge that can take out the vocals??? thanks!

Posted by: Ray Knobs

It probably can be done but it would be really hard and you would need something more advanced than soundforge. It is not as easy as just hitting a button. Whats wrong with vocals anyways?

Ray Knobs, thank you so much. i read that rigtones for dummies thing, but it did not say to leave it as .mp3 format. I finally found it on the 'file type' list and saved it and it works perfectly. i can't tell you how happy this makes me...all those wasted hours have finally paid off
