CDM-8600 memory Dialing Question

As most of you know, the manual that comes with the cdm-8600 is worth more for it's comedic value (not really) than for any actual help and instruction. My question pertains to the capability of dialing number sequences during a call from say, a speed dial location. By this I mean, I have a number that I call very frequently, once this number is dialed, a recording prompts for a user id, that entered, you are prompted for a password. On my home phone, I have those three items stored respectively in the speed dialer's 1st 3 memory slots, so all I have to do at any prompt is press the memory button, then the numbered button that corresponds to the item I'm entering during the call.
Now I've tried this strictly using the power of my brain on this cell phone and have thoroughly failed. I'm embarrassed, but I think my only chance of figuring this out is to appeal to the good nature of some of you who might have figured this out? Thanks in advance.

Never mind... I figured it out, no thanks to the manual. Thanks anyway!

What did you do?
I'm sorta curious how you managed this.

Myself, I would've used hard and soft pauses when programming the number.

Cheers..
