What's up, New to the Site been browsing the forums for about a month now and have gotten alot of information. I recently Purchased an Audiovox 8900 and want to say you guys kick *** at doing stuff. I have the Data Cable and BitPim and am working on it tenaciously to find something new for this phone so I can bring it to the community.

I hope to be of some help in the future things that I haven't found or am currently trying to modify are.

Finding a way to get ringtones and pictures on the phone without using VZWpix at all. Since it isn't available in my area, I live in North Dakota out in the boonies. So I have to have a data cable to use my camera. So the method you are speaking of where you can change the name of the ringtone doesn't apply to me since I can't load them unless I purchase them straight off of Get in Now. Which we all know that's a rip off and sometimes it doesn't work cause the towers are crappy. Then I lose out on the transfer and my cash and it's a hassle telling VZ that sooo.

I also want to edit the phone book and such from the PC. I'm sure there are ways through other programs, but they haven't been released yet so I'll be working to make one. Hopefully it's done soon because I am very interested into editing them without using the phone itself and saving my contacts.

I saw this issue addressed in an earlier post about a shut down animation and sound. That's got to be stopped. Working in a professional environment and some areas where cell phones aren't allowed you need to shut them off before you enter the room. Then your co workers staring at you while your phone has a 3 ring circus, I think not.

Other than that I haven't had many troubles with the phone. I enjoy working with you and I have fairly decent computer knowledge and a whole lot of motivation for projects so if anyone needs help with anything I'm here.

Also I found out some things NOT to do with the phone.
In BitPim you can Right click on the + in the file directory and "Create New File" Too bad this doesn't work, I've been toying with that seeing if I could get a file on the phone so I could rename it but it doesn't write to the phone even though it is shown as being there in BitPim. So I'm still working on that.
Also DO NOT rename a picture to a .midi, I took a photo and figured since it was a file on the phone maybe I could rename it an move it to the media section. WRONG. This seriously messes up your phone and you need to remove the battery to restart your phone and then delete the file (Which is stilled named pic#.jpg) from your phone on restart from BitPim. I
f you try to view the picture while named as a .midi it wreaks havoc.

If anything I figure I'll do some of the things people might be afraid to do with thier phones, NO FEAR, some stupidity.
Some of this may not be right, maybe I over looked a few things but I hope maybe I brought up some ideas and someone will come up with something.
