GX-22 Charging

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

When did u all charged your GX-2*? 2 bars, 1 bar or empty/blank?
I feel that the phone drains quite fast when it reaches 2 bar onwards. The 4th & 3rd bar can last quite long... I play around most of the time on camera mode so I'll charge my phone everyday.

Give some comments. Thanks...

Posted by: RKFChan

I think that is normal cause mine does that too...!!!

Posted by: hocky

Charge when there is no bars and it gives u a warning message that battery is low.

Posted by: kisember

Why did you wait until it drain almost all power?
As I know this kind of battery doesn't need to drain fully, but damage it.
You can charge it any time.

Posted by: hocky

Based on past experiences with lithium batteries, doing so will prolong your battery life. I dun get to buy original batteries at where i live that's y i gotta take great care of my batteries.

Posted by: kisember

Based on descriptions that wrote experts, draining fully the Li based battery will dramatically decrease the lifetime of battery. It is usefull only for NiCa (or what) batteries. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Posted by: RKFChan

I normally charge mine when it hits the 2 bar mark

Posted by: AMD1600

How long can your batt last from 2 bars? I mean u still play around with camera/video mode + IrDaA to PC. etc. Mine lasts at most 1/2hrs or even less. Esp. left 1 bar... can only last less than 10mins of stressing the phone...

Posted by: hocky

Oh, thanks for pointing that put man. Guess i have to change my charging method:

OMG!!!

This is a very Gd info posted here! I should do as told

Thanks for sharing THIS.

The VSCL (Vodafone) Java extesion contains a method to get the charge intensity in % format. Seems better than 5(?) bar. I will make a test midlet.

Could somebody tell me what extension available on the other (GX-21, GX-22, GX-27) phones? And where can I find any document and extended classes. I heard about "CJSP-1.0.0", but I didn't find any related document (english only).

Posted by: hocky

i am sure there are still a lot of ppl out there who is still thinking like i used to. Spread the news around during this festive season when u meet your relatives, ppl.

Posted by: kisember

I made a Java walpaper application at last night that shows charge and filed intensity more accurate. Screenshot taken from emulator, not tested on actual device yet.

Posted by: RKFChan

Thanks hocky......thats really helpful info......man i better do that full disharge thing soon before my battery gauge stuffs up.

Posted by: hocky

Wow, now that's hardcore, man. Way to go, kisember. Looking forward to testing your apps on my phone.

DO NOT TRUST IN THE NATIVE BATTERY INDICATOR!!!
------- It provide fake information. -------

I tried my wallpaper application (see above) on my girlfriends GX-20 and seems, the first bar disappears when power less than 50%, the second, when power less than 15% !!! These are not the exact numbers, but it seems on my app.
This is why the last two bar remains so little time.

Now I made some changes, the new features:
- battery charge and field intensity in numeric format too,
- pictures can show the actual, predefined or random zodiac,
- backlight control support
- save settings

@hocky: The application must use vendor specific api (Vodafone) to achieve this behavior so it won't run on GX-22. As I know, GX-22 uses CJSP extension, and I guess it supports this feature, but I didn't find any description about this API. To allow to run this application on your device, it would have to be designed for GX-22.

Kisember

So wat is the exact information that you need in order to redesign your java application for the GX-22?

Posted by: kisember

There must be a JSCP class library. It is usually a simple zip file, or a part of a SDK (Software Development Kit) or emulator.
There must be also a JSCP Java API documentation in javadoc or pdf format, and usually a jad creation guide.

These are usually downloadable from the development section of the manufacturers' site (after registration), but I didn't find such a thing. Maybe it is available only in foreign language.

Could you help to obtain those?

Thanks

So when and how and we test your wallpaper application?

Hard question.
First, it is working only on GX-20 (read post above), and I can only port to another Vodafone device (eg Motorola 525) yet.
Second, it uses pictures those may copyrighted by another person, so I can't sell or distribute, until I find the artist.

If somebody know the artist, please let me know.
I'm also interestet to make a Chinese zodiac version, if somebody know high quality pictures for the background, please let me know too.

i use a gx20!

i'll help u find some zodiac pictures..

im not sure if this thread is any help about the apps and cjsp on the gx22 but im sure it couldnt hurt to have a look:

CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK

@t_yosuke817 :
I saw that thread before, and that is not help for me. Just to clarify, if I want to reach battery charge info from my program, I need to code like this:

DeviceControl control = com.vodafone.v10.system.device.DeviceControl.getDe faultDeviceControl();
int power = control .getDeviceState(DeviceControl.BATTERY);

then I need to compile this code, that needs the com.vodafone.v10.system.device.DeviceControl Java class that is part of VSCL API (Vodafone). This must exist on my PC in design phase.
I guess, there is similar in the JSCP API, but I need it to port the wallpaper to JSCP phones.

@f2003 :
Thanks for helping me.
I spend hours to find the artist of those pictures I currently use. I saw those pictures on many site, but no copiright or artist info. I think I will release this application without care of copyright, but at least the artist name could be noted on about info.

mmm ok... then i wouldnt have a clue... i dont really have much clue about java programming in general either... lolz... i quit computer science at university in my first year!!

how do i go on about creating a java wallpaper with just like an analogue clock... with like black background if possible (bit like the external display on the samsung e700/715) thats all i really want it for... this is probably the wrong thread to ask but...sorry!!

Kisember

Maybe you might wanna email smartone and ask them for the files. Here's their customer service email:

Customer_Service01@HKSmarTone.com

Posted by: kisember

@t_yosuke817:
you need:
- Java Software Development Kit: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
- mobil SDK. I prefer Sun's WTK (v1.0.4) : http://java.sun.com/products/j2mewtoolkit/download.html
- any text editor (I prefer UltraEdit)
- if you want to use device specific feature (like wallpaper application) then you need the extension classes for that device too.
- device emulators (usualy shiped with vendor specific SDK)
- and of course programming skill

@hocky:
Nice idea, I will try it. Thanks

Posted by: AMD1600

Thumbs up for u guys!

I'm loking forward for see the JAVA app. Work hard guys.

if u were to take out the battery bar and the field intesity bar... would that work for gx22? just simple wallpaper, clock date etc.
i just tried to download to gx22 and obviously it didnt work.
it wouldnt even start downloading.
i altered the jad file a little bit then it actually did download but obviously still wouldnt work on the gx22.
if you think that taking out the battery bar and the fiel intensity bar will allow the gx22 to run this program... then please do alter it to this so i can try out... ofcourse if this isnt too much trouble for u.

thanks

t_yosuke817

Yo, if u get it to work on the gx-22, send me a copy too: hooocky@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance

@t_yosuke817:
This wallpaper definetly not work other than Vodafone device.
Strange request especially if I consider that this topic inspire me to make this wallpaper.
Anyway I made it. I don't know if it works as wallpaper, I have no experience in GX-22, and the smartone support didn't response yet. Based on another thread I think it would work, but if it happens it's based on an implementation lack.
You can download it if you change the zodiac.jad to zodiac22.jad in the URL. The battery and field indicator remains, but shows fake (100%) information.

@hocky: These are exclusively licenced dedicated versions, I will send you a test version if t_yosuke817 report me that it's working.
