you probably could if you found a way to get the openwave browser, then had a way to flash the phone.

you could view newer sites and see them in full color (if the site is color). But that will never happen, the chances of someone updating the browser is next to none

I know this is a little bit off topic, but is Openwave the interrnet browser on all phones or just the slider?

It's the browser for BREW phones, other platforms have their own browsers and some have third-party browsers as well (IE Opera makes browsers for mobiles).

I will pay anyone like 50 dollars if they find a way to update openwave on a virgin mobile slider. Also what does it mean to flash a phone? Ive been wanting to know what that meant for a while now but I couldnt ask because I changed my email in my profile and it takes like 5 days to get a confirmation email to reactivate my account.

1. you'll be holdin that $50 forever because its not gonna happen 2. flashing a phone means to change the firmware on the phone. Lets say you have a samsung, you can edit icons or whatever, put them in the new firmware and then load that new firmware onto your phone while taking the old one off

i was thinking of this myself.

couldnt you connect a phone with the newest version to your comp with a data cable and upload it to your comp then use the data cable with your slider to download the openwave sowftware from the other phone to the slider?

its not that simple, you just can't add or update programs seperately. The entire firmware must be updated and then sent to the phone but there is no access to a copy of the firmware or a flashing program for the slider.
