Crack2d Timeout!

I cant seem to get Crack2d to work, mat usb e.t.c is on com5 and that doesnt work but i read that crack2d only works with com1.
So how do i change where the drivers from com 5 to com1. i looked in the system properties but doesnt seem to give you an option.
If i need to install the drivers can someone send me a link to where they are, i tried downloading of mat-01-web or whatever it is and got the latest version but still doesnt seem to work for me.
(Running Windows98)

TO switch to com1 you need to go to control panels>system>hardware>device manager a window should pop up look under ports for your cable and change to com1.

The only problem is that I use Win98 so i dont have that option, thats an XP otion. Any other ways of getting around or software which changes the com ports around would be most appreciated.
Its really annoying me!
All help gladly accepted.
