P900 successor with EDGE - when?

Ok, this is the question new P900 owners don't want to be asked, but...

Does anybody have a guess or estimate when a P900 successor with EDGE support will be out?

I've tried p900 and surfing with that is, well ok, but could be faster. 2-3 times faster, which is what EDGE offers at best.

So, with the recent announcement of SE's EDGE-platform, I think it's time to star speculating.

Will it take almost a year to see P900 with EDGE?

I really wouldn't want anything else fixed. To me the screen is ok already. I don't need more memory, faster cpu or anything.

All I'd like to have is fast EDGE on P900.

So, the question is: when?

Edge is Nokia technology, I strongly doubt we'll see an Edge enabled SE phone.

Eh... Nokia technology? Err... are we talking about the same thing?

GSM World (former GSM Association) endorsement

3GPP EDGE standard
http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/html-info/50059.htm

3GPP partners include ARIB, CWTS, ETSI, TTA, TTC, GSM Association, GSA, UMTS forum, UWCC and more. That's practically everybody doing anything in mobile communications.

Ericsson's announcement of their own implementation of EDGE platform
http://www.ericsson.com/mobileplatf...edge/E100.shtml

I don't know how anybody by any measure can consider EDGE to be a Nokia standard that others will not implement.

By the looks of it, the situation is completely the opposite: it's open and everyone will implement it.

Halcyon

Ok,

let's make this easier.

First SE-phone with full EDGE support: when?

I really hope that GSM 850 would be included on the first EDGE model too
