sanyo 5k ringers

I've cropped a few midi files so I can offer them to you as sanyo ringers check http://www.holamola.com if you would like to try them. If you do, please let me know how they work. By the way, does anyone know in seconds how long it takes for sprint/telus handsets to go to voice mail.

To address your question about rings to voicemail, for Telus, it takes about 3 rings before you are fowarded to voicemail. Seems pretty consistent for every Telus handset I've called. I don't know if the default value can be changed, however, I'm betting that it can be done, and if anyone has information about this, please post

I got 2 different answers from CSR's when I inquired about it a year ago so I left it alone.

Three years ago, ClearNet told me that the number of rings that it takes before the voice mail takes over cannot be changed. Similiarly, two years ago, BC Tel Mobility (now Telus) told me the same thing. Every service provider has a different default value for the voice mail feature, the most common being four and six.

Bonka, the default number of rings should be four so if your phone do it in three, that is not consistent. Also, with my StarTAC (ST 7760), it puts the caller to voice mail in two rings if I turn on the vibrate feature. This is because the number of vibrations in your phone does not match the number of rings in the system (or network).

the number of rings may vary also depending on whether a person is in a digital or analog area. a friend of mine complained while roaming in digital it took 8 rings on the callers end before it went to voice mail. this was a problem because people would hang up and not leave a message.

The number of rings until fowarded to voicemail vary just a little for myself. Friends who attempt to call me say they "usually" crank out 3 rings before they are fowarded to my voicemail. I was on Clearnet then so I don't know if there is any consolation there, but I would definitely agree that it would take about 4 rings until a call is forwarded as I called my own phone a few times before and it took about 4 rings, maybe more, maybe less, I can't remember. I just usually get 3 rings when I call people with Telus. I should note however, that many times, I get a rather long pause before the first ring comes, so there could be an indifference there.

The official word for Telus Mobility phones is 4 rings before a call is forwarded to voicemail.

Callers may hear more than 4 if you are outside of your home area and the call is having to be forwarded through the network to you

OR

The voicemail system is bogged down and needs to wait for a line to open up for you to leave a message. It will keep you in a ringing loop until a spot opens which is usually just 1 rings worth of time.

The number of rings cannot be changed and is set by the network.

I know with sprint you can request to have your number of ringers changed to 9. My friend had hers changed to this, since she normally has to go and search for her phone in her purse when it rings!
