What's the deal with my 8290?

I did an 8890 mod myself, and got blue LED's professionally done. It's worked fine for a while (6 months since the LED's, and 2 months since the 8890 mod). Today I was using it, and it hard crashed (stuck on the "list of own numbers" screen, and wouldn't turn off unless I removed the battery). When I turned it back on, it wouldn't recognize my sim card. So I took it apart, and rebuilt it. It found the sim card just fine, but now the buttons are going crazy. Some of them don't work, and others preform weird functions (for instance, the down arrow is +volume, and the 9 is power off). Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions for a fix? Did I completely kill my phone somehow?

I would also reccommend this... Good luck, sorry to hear that....

Take it apart again and pay *very* close attention to how things line up when putting it back together. Make sure nothing is touching that isn't supposed to be...especially if that 8890 conversion is a metal one.

And don't tighten the screws down as tight.. that may be what's causing the goofy key action.

I just re-fit everything (for the 5th time), and it seems that if I don't tighten it as much, the problems are less evident. The 8 key still doesn't work all the time, and the 9 will still turn it off, but only sometimes. Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe it's time for a new phone anyway... anyone know when Sony-Ericsson is making a phone for VS?

If VoiceStream carries GSM, why not just get an unlocked SE phone?

I never considered getting an unlocked phone. Perhaps I should find an unlocked t68...
