Was able to upload a ringtone with bitpim and cable, and can preview it on the phone - plays fine.

However, after assigning to ring for 'caller id' numbers, it plays another ringtone instead.

I downloaded the .desc file for Song A, and uploaded it with the new ringtone (B). When I assign to play the new tone (B), it instead plays the other ringtone (A).

Do you have to alter the .desc file? Or is there anything else I am doing wrong with the uploaded ringtone? It is odd that it plays it on the phone fine, but just cannot be assigned.

the reason it plays another ringtone.. is becuase your desc file has the same index number as another ringtone in your ringtones dir.

do a search for the thread with the makeindex.exe by Zaediex.. its a dope prog he made that creates the folder/body/desc file.

Yep, there is an index field in the .desc and it has to be unique across all ringers.
