is there a way to convert mp3s to midis?

Not really. MIDI files don't actually store "sound" in the way MP3 or WAV files do - they just store notes and different "intstuments" or "voices" - synthisised not real. This is why they have so much smaller file sizes.
You can convert musical notation to MIDI if you have the right software - NoteWorthy Composer, for example, or the handset manager for the Panasonic X70.

midi is to mp3 as sheet music is to singing
if you're looking for midi files, try www.musicrobot.com midi search engine (looks kind of cheesey, but REALLY good), then use www.anvilstudio.com really good FREE midi editor to cut them down if you want (no one needs a 5-minute long ringtone)
