Its just a guess but how about User Interface Quartz?

User Interface Quartz is correct.

Quartz was one of three user interface designs developed on top of Symbian OS v6.x.

The first was Crystal, the 1/2 VGA keyboard-based U.I. seen on the Nokia 92xx Communicator range.

Quartz was originally a 1/4 VGA, pen-based design. Ericsson decided that the physical width of a 1/4 VGA UI was slightly too much for the average hand, and proposed "Thin Quartz" - the resolution of the current P800/P900 U.I. The user interface itself was designed by Symbian's interaction design team, and developed by a Symbian subsidiary in Sweden (now known as UIQ inc.)

Pearl was a smaller, key-bad based, smartphone U.I. No shipping devices are based on pearl currently.

In the current version of the Symbian OS, Symbian licenses the operating system (including application engines) along with a test/development UI. Manufacturers can license UIQ from UIQ inc, or the Series 60 U.I. (with underlying OS) from Nokia, or Series 90 (first seen on the Nokia 7700) from Nokia. Symbian licensees are also free to develop their own U.I.'s

The underlying Symbian operating system does not mandate a specific screen resolution, input mechanism, or user interface the way Microsoft does. This has good points, and bad points. However, because there is so much drive by device manufacturers to innovate and come up with more design concepts, in the long run it means that Symbian is a better choice for phone manufacturers than MS, and that you're likley to see a far broader, and larger number of devices based on the Symbian platform.

To paraphrase the Great Carsonii..."I did not know that..." Thanks for the history lesson. I've always wondered myself but did not have the nuts to display my ignorance....and thanks for the answer TrueContext..

Alas,

UIQ = User Interface Quartz
The question has been answered. Thanks guys.

~RyoS

now if I can only find a decent way to change Quicktime MOV files in to mp4.

most converters make the MOV into mpeg first. However it loses a lot of quaility and resolution.

I'd like to know what you guys use for converting programs.
