NEC 525 New (very Good) Sync software.

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Le_NickNack

For all of you NEC 525 users, I just tested the new memory editor/personal Information editor published on the French NEC web site for the N341i sold in France (looks exactly like the 525).
It is great !!!! Much better than the 525 mem editor.

It will allow you to:
Upload download pics and mid/mmf
Manage your phone book
Manage groups
Manage your to do list
Manage your schedule/reminders
Back-up you phone settings
etc etc....
It is great for people who dont have or do not want to sync to outlook.

You will need the USB cable. I have tested it using the 525USB drivers (from the US web site) on my XP Pro laptop.

The download is located at:
http://www.nec.fr/grand_public/rubr...ciel.asp?id=46.

and select the PIE 3 download...

I will test it with my 515 this evening and report here.

TIP:
If like me you are unable to load mmf files because of copyright issues, here is a tip that works for me.
Find on the net a copy of PsmPlay5-0 (midi/mmf to mmf converter).
Install on your machine.
Open the mmf with the copyright issue.
Select: file, create smaf, smaf 16 chords.
Give it a new name, uncheck the copyright box and "voila".
You will now be able to upload the file

Forgot to mention, the program is multi language so it will install in english !

Good work ole chap!

Posted by: Portablecow

Hmm, sounds exactly like the N8 software...

http://www.nec.com.hk/cms/files/644.html

which I've been using for quite a while and is nothing new....

Posted by: Portablecow

Oh, and it works with my NEC 515.

Posted by: Le_NickNack

Portablecow

Weird but for some reason I have been unable to use the N8 software with either my 515 or 525 (XP pro PC, latest USB drivers).
The N8 software just does not reconize my phones.

But the PIE3 software worked perfectly with either one.
I wonder if the PIE3 software is a later version of the N8 software !

Posted by: Portablecow

Could be Le_NickNack.

It's just a shame that NEC won't devote just a little bit of effort to update the 515/525 memory editor software. Its probably just a simple matter of renaming the PIE3 software! Oh well, this is generally how things work with large corporations.

LeNickNack,howdy.

I keep on fighting with pcm play 5 and can't get that thing to work.It will load the midi file or mmf but when I remove copyrights off it and save it nothing changes.I still can't add the file.Although I can add the same file in midi format, which is not allow me to use led and vibe
Nec 525 sync software( i got both kinds now) won't add,and i am soo agrevated right now

Anyways,if anyone of you fellows have found out whats the alternative ways to make mmf work, please let me now.
Have a good evening everyone.

Posted by: Le_NickNack

omirekanits

I tried the file you attached with your post and it worked.
First convert the file from mid to mmf with pmsplay5
Open the new mmf with pmsplay5
convert the mmf to a new mmf make sure to change the name.

Posted by: infoghost

Any chance you can post that file somewhere, or a link I can get at? I can't get in via the link, and I am not very good with French....

Posted by: MDDrew

direct link

http://www.nec.fr/grand_public/rubr...giciel/pie3.zip

Posted by: dcardshark

Awesome. This is great. So much better than the 525 memory manager and the N8 memory manager (couldn't even get it to work). I wish I knew what NEC's problem is as far as releasing this version on their website and including it with the phone.

Thanks.

Posted by: clouzot

You are welcome !!!

Posted by: bayarearider

I can't seem to get it to work. Can someone tell me where to download the latest USB Drivers? When i check device manager it lists the phone as being on com7, but the PIE program doesn't allow me to select com 7. Only com 3 or com 6. When i try to download from phone it has an error "communication carried the timeout".

Any ideas??

the driver version i am using is 1.7.0.0

Or am i doing something wrong? Because I have a USB cable...so there should be no com ports right?

Posted by: clouzot

USB connections are treated as serial connections ie com ports.

Go in your control pannel and see if you can change the com port # for the USB cable connection.
What OS are you running ?

Posted by: bayarearider

got it working....not sure what was wrong...but i just reinstalled everything and now it works. thanks for the reply

Is it possible to transfer games with the cable?

Posted by: Le_NickNack

I have not been able to do it yet. (I have not tried hard either )

Posted by: outlaw2_0

Thank you for the direct link i dont speak french and i didnt know where to start.
N8 software=crap for my 525 i tried using the N8 usb drivers too...no help. Trying out pie right now.

Posted by: outlaw2_0

O yeah...If anyone knows of any good .mmf or .mid websites that are free...please post URL. Thank you
Try this site

http://www.free-polyphonic-ringtone...icringtones.php

Posted by: master of Unive

Hello! I ve got the same problems with my N8. Firstly, when i intralling USb drivers,

Win Xp shows that this drivers are not supported with XP. secondly, when i installd

this drivers, i opened Memoryeditor, it ask me "Please connect HHP for initialize

resource information", than i chosing connection port and see "connection establish

sucsessfully" (or something like that)..... and thats all!!! I dont know what to do!

Who knows, please help!.

Posted by: outlaw2_0

Just use the PIE3 software...Although the Memory Editor on the nechdm site is MUCH faster...The pie3 has a nicer look and well over all better layout.

Posted by: master of Unive

can you give me a hyperlink to download it tnis manager? (for free download, please)

Posted by: outlaw2_0

The Pie 3 link is this thread on the first page.

Posted by: dav2

Hi,

When you guys refer to the USB cable, you guys mean only one particular kind of USB cable right? Because I just bought a USB cable straight from the AT&T store and am not sure if that's the one you guys are talkign about. The other question I have is that what are the 8 digit code numbers that could unlock the phone NEC 525. If anyone of you know, can you post it up here? I'm sure that everyone who owns the NEC 525 will really appreciate the effort. Thank you.

Posted by: drspyder

I have billions(litterally) of ringtones and wallpapers for the NEC525, just pm me or catch me on aim, i would like to tknow how to transfers games over the cable...

Posted by: synx01

alright, first of i was wondering if anyone else had tried this.... i hate those pictures that come with the phone and you cant delete so i tried this... i made a bunch of picture files that were only like 1KB and renamed them with the same names as the picture files taht were on the phone i sent them over to the phone and what do u know...i could now delete the files, i also noticed that if i replaced the "animated.gif" it would show up as the new gif whenever i started the phone. i did the same thing with the sound files....i was happy with this but then i noticed my phone would just freeze up and turn off for no reason. so has anyone else tried this and had the same outcome with their phone? just wondering. also does anyone know where to get any games from besided nechdm.com?

Posted by: Kevbodian

in midi format i believe...

FreeWap.nl

Posted by: drspyder

nobody knows how to transfer the games over the cable?

Posted by: scotty777

NEVERMIND: I just had to hold the "hang-up" button to turn the phone back on.

HELP!!!
I think I'm toast but I tried using the n8 software (NEC 525) and it asked me to change my HPP software to a compatible language and once I clicked yes my phone went completely DEAD!

It seams that my phone will not even register under Windows XP anymore. Any ideas? Thanks.

Posted by: drspyder

... If you have no idea what the hell you are doing a data cable is not a good i dea to mess with..

Posted by: scotty777

Actually, drspyder, many seam to be having trouble with this and either few are sharing the simple info or just do not know one very important fact. In trying to solve my problem I came accross the excellent documentation at www.nechd.com. Though many have listed in these forums that the NEC can be "backed up" it indeed is not backed up by the memory editor 525( or even PIE3). That is, software and other items placed in your phone by the manufacturer/provider are not backed up( I could care less). Only your phone book entries, etc. that you have added will appear. BECAUSE OF THIS if you first select transfer from HHP(ergo. phone) to PC you will most likely receive nothing back on the screen in Memory Editor 525 (It is media based so phone book entries don't apply). At first glance a new user might see the phone power down as an alarming problem, as I did, since I am new to cell phones. Also, since these transfers require a phone reset, it will seem that the phone has powered down before completing the transfer when in truth their was nothing to transfer! If you have stored anything in the phone it should now be listed on your PC if its type applies to the program you are using. Now you can choose additional files to send to the phone, PC to HHP, which will, roughly speaking, write over the items you had in the phone before(should not be a problem since you already copied everything from the phone to your PC screen). Remember to keap a copy of everything on your PC and you can always then return it to the phone. Now hold down the disconnect/hang-up button untill the phone comes back on and click the PC to HHP button.

I've searched google and didnt find it. Can anyone else supply me with an alternate link to the Pie3 editor? The link here doesnt seem to work anymore.

I too have used the N8 and 525 editor with no luck...I am hopefully that this Pie3 one will end the problem.

Please reply.

The french NEC site appears to have been restructured so here's the new page:

Download PIE3

Posted by: russmca

Is it normal for PIEIII to take ages when uploading and downloading?

When i used it for the first time it took a while to download everything from my phone - I thought this was just a one off becuase it was the first time but then I tried to upload one .mmf to my E525 and it took about 6 minutes!

Is there a quick way to upload ringtones to the phone? And is there an English manual for PIEIII???

Posted by: gcharma

Nobody seems to have answered one of the earlier questions, and I'm wondering if there even is an answer... Anybody know how to upload games or apps to this device using the data cable?

http://www.nec.fr/grand_public/rubr...1i&di=5&g=imode

coppy that into ur search bar

I downloaded this PIM3 software and used it. It is certainly better than the Sync software NEC ships with the phone because I dont use Outlook (I don't have it either).

However, I had a few problems with the software.
1. I cannot change the index number of the entries if I want to re-order the phonelist. Workaround - export to excel, manipulate and get it back.

2. I could not figure out a way of changing the melody enmasse. Given 100s of phone numbers, I wanted to assign a different melody to each group. The only way I thought I could do it is when the phonelist is in Excel. But, when I import it into PIM3, it does not import the Melody the way it gets the group. Anyone figured this one out?

Sumit

Did you mean PIE 3 or 4? This link has only PIE 3 - which worked great for me.

Thanks.

Go to T-Mobile's site and go to setting, T-Mobile would send it to your phone to download.

thanks

I am not sure about the NEC since I don't have one. In my V600, I could add more browsers if there is room. The V600 can hold like 10 or more in the web setting. If your NEC has the same feature and it's not full, I think you can add. Just give it a shot, won't cost you anything.

Posted by: cgt32

it seems like nec change the program now. I can't seem to dl it all. if anyone has this program with them, would you please upload to here, www.yousendit.com to this addres cgtx32@gmail.com

Wow! the seach function actually did a good job!
Actually after 2 days of endless study to get memory editor to work I found this thread and it actually puts an end to my problems with a program to transfer things without the complicated way of how mem. editor!!

But one question, I downloaded NEC Mobile Suite from the 525 page(nechdm) then used the drivers from PIE3 to actually get the program working. One thing that gets me scratching my head is how come it can't detect mmf files but it can detect midi files??

i think the nec mem editor software, albiet less prettier, can identify the mmf files etc.

download it from nec.co.hk i believe, on the n830 page

Posted by: .FLiP.MATiC.

I'll look into that, one more thing...Whats up with the copyright protection?? 3PG and MFM files cannot be transfer due to copyright. I should try memory editor for that too
