how do I send pics and ringtones from my sl56 to my t616 via IRDA? the only thing I can send are my phone numbers.

i don't believe it's possible. I believe with the SL56, it's one way on the IrDA, particularly due to the encrypted file system it uses (assuming the SL55 lets you do that sort of thing).

ive heard that cingular locks that feature.... dunno if its true tho but i think its in the manual by siemens online that you can send files, i havent seen the feature cuz its not on my phone but in the manual it says its there... im getting a data cable in a coupledays to unlock/flash my phone.. ill see if anything chagnes

Its possible to do. Siemens locks the file system, not the local provider. As of right now you can only send files that reside in the My Data folder. You can only get files into that folder by IR from a PC. Same with MMS, Only files in the my data folder can be sent.

So you can go ahead an delete the included gfx in the MMS type folders because you'll never be able to do anything with them.

I simply deleted all that crap including ring tones, Java games, etc and I 'reinstalled' all of it to the my data folder.

How would I get all my games,ringtones wallpapers, ect. on to my computer? via cable? IrDA does not work on sending files, only numbers.

Basically you can't. Files can't come off the phone ever unless they are in the my data folder. Once the files are in the my data folder you can initiate the transfer from the phone. What about your originals? You will never get them from the phone with the current locks in place. I deleted all mine and downloaded the files from someone with a SL55 (they're the same files). THen I put them back in the phone but in the my data folder. Now I have *almost* total control.

You can transfer all files from phone to pc via IR. Its a java app that lets u copy any file in the phone to the unprotected my data folder where u can then send it to pc or another phone via ir. There a post on it somewhere here do a search you should find it. It was designed for the S56 but ive tried it on my SL56 and works flawlessly.

thanks a lot it worked like a charm... I can move everything from pics to ringtones to my data folder w/o using my PC. And send pics and ringtones to anyone!! yay thanks a bunch!! you just made me like my phone even more!!

hopefully everyone with a s56 or sl56 or even sl55 sees this on how to transfer files,pics,ect.
