7135 total recall

Just got a phone call from my business rep, and I was told that Verizon will start switching customers to the Samsung i600 or the Samsung i700 next week.

I called to inquire about my battery recall that has not happened and also to complain that I had to stop any messages coming through because the message reminders are so intrusive that I was loosing calls, and the repeated "updating phone book" message at the most unopportune moment and the constant resets, locks and total losses of data. (I'm on my second phone with the latest software SZ 1.0.29 and MZ 1.0.44 Prl 50113)

They told me that they will order a new phone for me on Monday and should get it by wednesday.

I am personally sad that the Kyo7135 was not better executed, I think that Kyo made a HUGE mistake in not putting in a faster processor, the new Palm 5 OS, and more Beta testing before the release of the phone.

I'm going with the Samsung i700, meanwhile I'm going to Verizon Store in the am for them to connect my old V60 meanwhile.

In Canada, Telus Mobility carries the Kyo7135, and a store manager told me they don't sell. Telus now offers the i700. It's a much sexier product. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the Palm OS.

Did the rep mean the 1st or 2nd week of Feb? I would like to replace my 7135 (keeps freezing on me when I try to answer a call) with an i700, but data services was of no help. Also, I didn't know whether to wait to see if they come out w/the Audiovox 5050 that works w/Ev-DO network.

My 7135 was disconnected already , I have my v60i working and they are ordering me a Samsung I700, they were going to give me an I600 for an even exchange but I told them that this phone is not a full PDA like the I700 so they said that they would charge me part of the tax $31 bucks.

It was ordered and they told me 3-4 days.

I will post with the outcome later on the week.

I think that the lack of a Palm I will miss, I hate anything Microsoft, but I'm willing to give a try...

If you're a confirmed Palm person, meaning you have backups on any computer you use, and there are things on the Palm you use every day, you'll probably end up buying another Palm device regardless of the i700. Palm is a cult. That's one reason why I've stayed away from PDA phones. I'm committed to the Palm OS, but I've always felt that the phones were too big, and lack the latest operating system. I'm happier with a separate, high end Palm device and a small phone.

The I700 came in yesterday, the learning curve was huge, since I've used Palms since the US robotics days.

I love the color screen, pretty fast compared to the 7135, i have not used a Palm V unit, so I don't know how they compare.

the Palm has the HotSync down to a science, the Microsoft ActiveSync doesn't read my phone all the time when i dock it.

Otherwise.... it's BIG... and I have no choice, the I600 doesn't have the features like the Kyo7135 and it's FREE

No complaints here so far, if I get fed up with it, I'll use it as a PDA and get a small phone to carry like I did in the old days.

The Microsoft Pocket PC OS is not too bad.

I was waiting for your report. Thank you. I am a Palm person for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that I'm a Mac user, and pocket PC's are not Mac friendly. Palm has always been a friend of Mac.
