In 2 weeks I will be going to taiwan to stay with a friend for a while. I have heard that the GSM market is pretty good in taiwan. IS this right?
I also hear that the prices are better than hong kong too?
Can anyone reccomend any good GSM Mobile shops over there? Also is it worth me packaging up my P900 and taking it to trade in in Taiwan , I have traded in phones in Hong Kong before and was wondering if the same things were possible in Taiwan?
Thanks for any info.

Yup, the GSM market is one of the most dense and advanced one in the world. You should have no problem using your tri-band GSM phone and the receptions is simply amazing over there.
For short term stay you can buy those pre-paid sim card from all major GSM operators and the intial starter kits are pretty cheap.
I think it is worth it for you to bring your P900 over there as the price on that phone is pretty expensive no matter where you go. Ask your friends to take you to C Min Din, there is plenty of stores there that buy used phones and trade.

Yea Cant beat GSM coverage in Taiwan. I travel all around the island and never have trouble making a call. Can be in an MRT station or in Taipei 101 and still get reception.
WHere have you ever been able to find a store that can exchange phones? hahah not in Shi Men Ding(not C Min Din haha). But the phone stores in Shi Men Ding are usually very good priced and they carry a lot of phones if you go to the right stores.

Actually there are shops that does that. Those shops are in the little street right next to the Lion Village building. Its a old alley like street and you will find tons of little cell phones shops that does repairs and buy/sell used phones.
