i got mine for $760 back in early december.

this is the guy i bought mine from:

347 210 1467
globaltrader@tmail.com

he was fast and good.

virtualdynamix should have the p900 by next week. visit their site at www.globalmob.com or PM him

Posted by: ipXpert

Sure you are...and I have some land in Florida that I would like to sell you for $1 dollar an acre. :-)

Wildzx, beware of "too good to be true prices." p900 doesn't sell for less than $700 even if it's used. You've been warned.

Posted by: shockdaddyd

samantha's right, anything under $700 is probably a swindle. the rush in that post should also raise suspicion.

with all due respect, posting a url and a name do not make your story or your p900 deal true.

i would still avoid buying off hf from anyone who only has 4 posts. sorry, no history.

Hi Midnight Sun,

Could you please update us on your order from Sony's Website once you do receive the phone? I would like to know where the phone's made and what firmware it's shipping with. I'm planning on getting one through their website too. Incidentally, do you know which provider you're going with?

Thanks!!!

Melencio

Posted by: Midnight Sun

ill keep you updated. in terms of the provider. when checking out on the site, it is not required to select a provider. but for your own reference, i will be using it on my cingular account...

Posted by: bcaslis

OK, I'll butt in here. Placed order on Saturday (via website). Shipped Monday, Received Tuesday.

Firmware:
Phone: CXC162022 R3C006
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R5D
Organizer: CXC162021 R3A06
CDA: CDA162003/6 R3A05

How do I tell where it's made?

should say on the box

Posted by: bcaslis

Box:

Front: big picture of P900
Back: big picture of camera lens
Top: Sony Ericsson logo
bottom: Label, part numbers, IMEI number, second label partially stuck on top with reorder number (?), model number, and description.
Left: feature logos, small P900 pictures
Right: box contents, screenshots, embedded technologies logos

???

Absolutely no clue. Part of the label is under the second label so I can't see it. I ordered a headset at the same time and it has similar "reorder" number label on top of the original label.

on my P800, it said "Made in France" or something like that on the IMEI label

Posted by: bcaslis

OK, if I take off the battery cover and battery, on the label inside it says "Made in France".

(ordered it Monday midnight, got it on Wednesday at 9am from HK)

Any advice which software that i should install first ...
thanks

I've been shopping around online for a week or so myself for this phone. Any of you think a group deal would be possible, I dont know if this had happen before but on the car forums i go to there are always great group deals organize with the manufacturer directly. just an idea cuz i cant afford to pay over $700 on SE p900 that i want so much right now!!!

Posted by: fijbert

@samantha2001
prices of a P900 hv dropped to 600$USD once
but u gotta know where to find them (arab world!)

for the moment there is a shortage of P900s which is sending the phone's price way up there

Posted by: samantha2001

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonT68/R402)

@fijbert, i'm talking about p900 prices here in the US, recently, not some time ago. I knew that expansys sold it for around $686 something a few months back but if u check anywhere today, cheapest is $799 from SE website.

Hi Wildzx,

What's the breakdown of that $820 price that you paid? Did you pay for taxes as well? Where is your phone made?

thanks for taking time answering our questions here.

Hi bcaslis,

How much did you pay for yours in total? Did you get charged for taxes?

Melencio

@samantha
well, the prices in dubai I think last week were around 720$USD

Posted by: bcaslis

This was directly from Sony Ericsson so it was $799. I live in Oregon which has no sales tax so I wasn't charged anything. Overnight shipping was $22.

Well.....I'm letting go of mine. My whole grand plan did not pan out and I am abandoning the whole scheme. It is THE best phone yet, that I have had, but like many things in life....the timing is all wrong. Now what do I do? I backed out of TMO within 14 days. Have P900, Tracker, and 126MB DUO. Not looking to score....just cut my losses. I knew it was a risk going into it.

The phone is from Hong Kong. I installed the English language deal to change the "unfiled" drop-down to English.

Phone: CXC162022 R3C006
BT: CXC12529 R5D
Org: CXC162025 R1A08
CDA: CDA162003/11 R1A08

I figure worst case I'll just let my friend use it...but he is not a gadget person...he just has TMO. I have had ZERO issues with the phone over the past 2 weeks (13 days).

why not order it from the Se website. that way, you're sure of the warranty, plus, it's brand new. and it's only $799 plus shipping.

I just want to update this thread for George.

I want to state, I purchased George's P900 and I got it within 3 days of payment. And for $600 for a brand new condition with 128MB memory stick, I consider it a good deal. I think you guys were really rude and this is a poor example of welcoming a new forum member trying to sell a phone

Like the saying goes, don't judge a book by it's cover or in this case don't judge a member by his feedback!

Err...its even better if you know the FULL story too.

I never asked for a P900 fpr $600us....i just had an ad up that said will buy 3 P900s for $600 each, but he mistook that as 600 per phone. Also, i NEVER even gave him my link for the ad as he found it himself and assumed i wanted it for 600. Also, i have my own P900 now, so i wasnt rude or anything, i'm pretty angry that you would excuse me for such a thing since i'm always nice and try to help people out always whenever i can.

I know about fraud and how people can lose their money. I'm sorry if fraud has happen to you. It is a risk out there, especially on the internet

But at the same time, we should fully understand a person before we go point a finger, otherwise it can lead to critizism

I just ordered my p900 from SE's website with next day delivery for $820. Price is good, and most of other sites and ebay offer it at same price or more. Better to go direct with Sony for peace of mind.

Howardforums uses Flash HTML code for their website for the banners. Only way to get pass that is if howard gets rid of the huge flash ads or for you to use a browser that bypasses the flash code (ie. opera, which you should be using anyway!)

P900 built in browser is slow and doesn't format as good as Opera. Try opera and watch hofo load alot faster!

with my p800, i always use the default internet browser and i have no problems logging on to hofo. but with the p900, i got this problem. it's only with this website though, i can access any other sites without any porblem.

maybe i'll install opera and just use it, although using hofo wap doesn't bother me (only bad side is, i can't reply to PMs using wap).

but i'll try to reflash my phone and install opera tonight.

Samantha,

even with the P800, i would recommend opera over the built in browser anyday. If that's the only problem, why go through flashing, just use opera. the built in browser has'nt been updated by SE in the P900 but opera does update their browser.

Posted by: samantha2001

ok, thanks cmc0. will install opera tonight

I couldnt get SE to ship it out to me by Saturday since this will be a V day gift, so I canceled it and bought one from globalmob today. SE wanted me to fax them my ID and utility bill to show proof of residency of my billing address which is ridulous in my opinion. Why do I need to do all this stuff when I am having the unit shipped to the cards billing address? They charged my card and then they put my order on hold to do these security checks. Shouldnt they ask for paperwork before charging my card?

I just called Globalmobility and they will be shipping it out tonight and arrive tomorrow by 3pm. Total cost with next day is less than $800 which is cheaper than SE and obviously they will be faster to ship. I'll let you guys know when I do receive it for those who are interested in buying the phone from them.

Just recieved my phone today and everything is in tact. The price is great and received it on time. Thanks globalmobility!!

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonP900/R101 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

@kidnice, how much for just the phone?

Posted by: kidnice

$749 for the phone and I paid for overnight shipping and it came out to be $792. So I basically saved $28 instead of buying from SE and could have saved more if I didnt get overnight shipping.

Posted by: bcaslis

I ordered from SE USA and they also wanted me to fax them stuff to verify ID. I almost cancelled with them, but when they guaranteed to get it out that day, I sent them the info. They claim it's due to high fraud rates, but I've never had to do this for anyone else.

samantha

I see you did'nt listen to my advice and try opera.

the hofo website crashes my P800 and my P900 also using the default browser. Ditch the default browser and use opera. You'll be better off and the hofo main HTML page will load. WAP hofo also loads faster

Posted by: bcaslis

What kind of error do you get? Mine sits there a long long time not seeming to load anything and then it quit with "Reason Code KERN-EXEC Reason number 3". I did get it to load with Opera but it takes forever. Also I went to a task manager to quit Opera before trying Internet again and noticed Opera was taking up almost 3MB after loading the page.

I also get that problem when loading the standard hofo page via the default browser but opera loads fine. Hofo wap works fine on both browsers though

Same for me. On a separate note, how do you find the display brightness? I'm fairly disappointed with mine. I had a P800 a long time ago and I can't remember it well enough to say if this is brighter or not, but compared to all my other PDAs and recent phones, this time is pretty dim. Very nice and detailed but dim. My Treo 600 is a searchlight compared to it. I got a Motorola V300 last night for my wife, and the lowest brightness on it's display is much brighter than my P900. I called SE but on the phone they really couldn't tell how bright it's supposed to be. There's no reason to return it if they are all like this, it works fine otherwise. But my time is running out for the 15 day return and there's no place around here I can compare it to another one.

True, I used the Treo 600 also and the P900 is pretty dim compared to ym Treo 600 or my Moto V600. But it's pretty good. I'm not going to really complain

lol, what's wrong with opera. The good part about it is being able to surf the net via bluetooth instead of having to use GPRS only as with the default browser. And opera supports the new HTML code and loads faster

You're the first one I know that prefers the default browser over opera!

i like the default browser over opera because it lets people know on hofo you hve a p900 via wap

i used the default browser mostly to access hofo's main website, not via wap. i'm inclined to use hofo wap now because i can't access the website.

regarding this thing about sony ericsson requiring a fax....

i ordered my P900 from them and they did require a fax. But i think those of you who complained are a lil confused as to what it was. It wasnt any sort of name/address verification. they faxed me over a sheet that just explained their 15 day return policy, i had to sign it, and fax it right back. took about a minute to do. so i dont know why people got so upset regarding it. nothing against globalmob or any other dealers but i am happier going the slightly extra effort (in this case, signing a piece of paper and pressing a few buttons) to make sure i get a perfect brand new phone straight from the manufacturer that is covered under all of their warranties. so the extra $30 or whatever spent by going with sony ericsson directly was worth it in my opinion....

moral of the story: dont get so upset when sony ericsson mentions the word "fax". its not nearly as bad as everyone made it seem...

Posted by: samantha2001

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonP900/R101 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

SE didn't fax me anything but in my receipt, there's something there about being able to return the phone within 15 days if not completely satisfied or if there's a defect.

Posted by: Midnight Sun

you said you had purchased items in the past from them though. so that could be why. this was my first time ever buying from them directly, it is a highline item, and i was having the package delivered to my work address instead of the credit card billing address. so i can understand why they would want that security of having me sign the policy

Posted by: samantha2001

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonP900/R101 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

that could be it. i was going to get the p900 from globalmob and SE kept stalling the shipment to them and i couldn't wait anymore so i went ahead and ordered it from SE. globalmob.com is still highly recommended...they might even have p900 housings in the near future

Posted by: kidnice

The rep I spoke to wanted me to fax him my photo ID and a utility bill for fraud prevention purposes. Not to sign some form for their return policy.

Posted by: Midnight Sun

ahhhhh. i guess its a luck of the draw as to what they make you do for the phone
